  •  :confused1:What a strange question!  I'll try and find out, okay?  I don't know that I've ever seen two bishops in the same place.  They tend to be solitary creatures, except at events like electing Popes, etc., to which I don't get invited!   :incense: :incense:
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • I really don't think so.  The kissing of the ring is a sign of honor and submission to an authority, which bishops do not have over each other.  Maybe if a bishop meets an archbishop, the bishop might kiss the archbishop's ring.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

As I am an Englishman, I would say 'My Lord Bishop' or 'Your Grace' but I think the American form is 'Your Excellency'. Correct me if I am wrong.
Old-fashioned is good, modern is suicidal.

A bishop may also be simply addressed as 'Bishop.'

I was under the impression that within the Commonwealth, a bishop is addressed as "My Lord," and an archbishop is address as "Your Grace."  Perhaps I am mistaken.

In any event, in the United States, all Latin-rite bishops and archbishops are addressed as "Your Excellency," except for those who are also Cardinals, in which case they are addressed as "Your Eminence."

  • Just an aside:  A Cardinal is considered a prince of the Church,  is a Bishop considered of some rank?

Collectively, the bishops are successors to the Apostles.  Is this what you mean?

Your Excellency or  My Lord.  The latter title is peculiar to the English.

In my experience, Eastern rite bishops often do.  Lower ranking bishops certainly kiss the rings of higher ranking ones.
