What the Bible Says About the Homeless

“Is [the fast the Lord desires] not to divide your bread with the hungry,
And bring the homeless poor into the house;
When you see the naked, to cover him;
And not to hide yourself from your own flesh? -New American Standard 1977

[A true fast means to] Deal thy bread to the hungry, and bring the needy and the harbourless into thy house: when thou shalt see one naked, cover him, and despise not thy own flesh. -Douay-Rheims Bible

then there is what Jesus said in the NT in Mt 25:31-46

that whatever we do or neglect to do for the least of His people, we neglect to do for Him... which psg always mentions the consequences of not adhering to that commandment: Hell...

This is also one of the psgs that mentions how long Hell lasts. The psg uses the term: eternal

i mention that b/c some say that Hell is not eternal. Well, i guess those folks had better send a memo to Jesus

Why listen to those that are ignorant? The Church has always taught that the fires of hell are everlasting.

Yes, it is. I don't think any Catholic doubts it.
(I'm not even sure why you would bring this up).

The problem begins when CC begins to suppose that the Bible is the final arbiter. He appears to have it arsesternward. Catholics do need to read the Bible, but one can't go off in a corner, read it, and speculate on it. The Church provided us the Bible. It is dangerous to read it with the thought that one can use it to go headlong into contributing one's own speculation.

Good reminder for Lent!

I like how all the works of mercy have their foundation in the Bible. :-)
