  • I walked by a tea bagger rally and half of the baggers were so obese, they looked like they may have cardiac arrests at any moment and they probably had diabetes as well. These people are not going to rebel. The fact that some people say that this is a sign of rebellion is laughable to anyone who has seen them.

  • Never use that phrase "tea b......" You can call them a tea party-er or something else, but never use that phrase. I am pretty sure that term is intentionally derogatory because it also has a slang meaning that refers to a disgusting kind of sodomite. For people who know its slang meaning, that term can bring up disgusting images in the mind and it is also a great insult to those people who go to the rallies because I am pretty sure that many of the people who use that term to describe them know the slang meaning and are purposely calling them sodomites as an insult.

  • I did not know that the term had a disgusting meaning. I have heard it used on the news so I thought it was ok as the news usually has bad words filtered out.

  • I know you did not know. Many people do not. My father used that term too and I had to explain why he should not use it. But when I see people like Chris Matthews use that term, I have am pretty sure he knows and is insulting those people. The thing is that it is slang among certain groups of people, but it is not universal like many curse words are, so they can get away with it.

  • I'd like to make a correction. When I said Chris Matthews, I should have said Keith Olberman. I confused those two MSNBC hosts. I don't watch television much.

  • Are there new labels coming into existence to describe tea-drinking conservatives in contrast to the younger Starbucks generation and its expensive coffee? Maybe this is an example of commerce sponsoring the political and social climate.

    Huh, good question.

I read in a survivalist book that tea is better than coffee (it was written by a Brit, of course :D) because it refreshes while coffee dehydrates.  Perhaps that alone is a worthwhile reason to make the switch, regardless of the generational differences.
