I was thinking, recently, that I've been a bit feisty on my favorite forum, CI. It started out with a thread about a particular member and his banishment. Ever since then I've been more confrontational than I'd like; so for that, I'd like to say I'm sorry.
So I was thinking, I wanted to share why I like coming on CI and what I get out of it/ have gotten out of it.
The biggest thing CI gives me, is an opportunity to hear how other Trads live their lives. I know that, sometimes, that going to Mass on Sunday isn't enough. Of course you we have prayers and devotions (rosary, angelus, Infant of Prague, etc) which help us spiritually, but coming to this forum has given me the opportunity to speak with other Catholics (especially during the week) where I wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity. First of all, trads who really 'get it' and try to live a Catholic life are scarce (unfortunately... for now).
Second of all all (and its related to the first), working in a secular world, I am constantly bombarded with, well, modernism, secularism, evil, etc. (Of course, I would much rather live on a farm, or something else, but financial circuмstances don't permit.- but another Trad and I are trying to see our way into a more farming/ self sustaining life- lets hope we can do it sooner than later!)
Thirdly, I like to think coming on here has truly opened my eyes to the other parts of the traditional world. That is, I've moved away from considering all other Trads *bad* lol. I started out in traditionalism as a SSPX go-er. I thought and bought into, 'no salvation outside sspx' and all that hooplah. Coming here, has really let me see that we're all in this together, and that in the end, we're all just Catholics 'in-waiting'.
I could keep going, and I will, but I'm also curious about what you think you get out of CI?
