What do you dislike about the Westboro Baptist Church?

Well they're not street fighters or soldiers. I'm sure they would turn tail and run if people were chasing after them with machetes. The early Christians did, too. If you all have seen their protests you know that a good share of the members are women, children, and teenage boys. To attack such a group doesn't really take guts, especially considering that they're hated by the establishment and that any violence meted out to them will be interpreted as a righteous action. I think some people's standards for courage are higher than mine, or they don't want to credit the Westboro folks for having any good qualities because of their outrage that they picket funerals. They're wrong about some things but I think they're very courageous. They could easily live a more comfortable life by not attacking ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs and Jews and Muslims (and everyone else), and have safe views on everything under the sun.

I think they're my favorite enemies of the Church. I actually like the fact that they're "attention whores." They force issues into the mainstream that would otherwise be relegated to the fringes.

Btw, I know it's culturally distasteful to picket funerals ("it's just not done"), but is there anything immoral about it?

Since burial is a Corporal Work of Mercy I say it is immoral try to stop it, just as it would be immoral to deny medical assistance to the dying.

When they picketed here, their signs said Glad you died Fag soldier...He was a family man and it was sickening.  Gives God a bad name.

They're a bunch od damn kooks and attention-whores, regardless of their position on "fαɢs", in the military or elsewhere. I have two sons serving and God forbid one them dies in battle and these weirdos come protesting at the funeral, I guarntee a few of them would be sent to the afterlife  that day where they can explain to God how they were disrespecting fallen soldiers all in his name.

I would love to see them pull their shananigans at a Muslim funeral.

They know better.

I remember that they protested at the funeral of an AIDS activist in San Fransisco.  They got their...um...posteriors handed to them by a bunch of drag queens.  I am certainly not pro-gαy, but I enjoyed that a great deal.

May want to check out this video (at 1:25, it's obscene):

I can understand a Catholic rooting against the Westboro folks, but rooting for people like the guy at the 1:25 mark?

How about not root for them or the drag queens? That's a position I can respect.

Okay.  Someone above called the Westboro people "Attention Whores"  I think the same could be said of the counter protestors in this video.

The WBC folks are just hateful. I've seen their protests, and they make my blood boil.

Much of what they claim about God is blasphemous, and they preach hate. Wether we like it or not, many athiest and agnostic people will group catholics and protestants together. When they see "Christians" behaving like this, it makes us all look bad, and makes evangelization all the more difficult.

I find it very disheartening to see WBC children out there protesting and preaching hate. The poor kids have been brainwashed.

I know they use signs that read, "Thank God for dead soldiers." I'd be surprised if they made it more personal than that. They say they rejoice in all of God's judgments, so they have a reason for it that's biblical. They say that the USA is a wicked country for, among other things, allowing ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs in the military and fighting unjust wars.

It's interesting how similar they are to traditional Catholics when compared to most other religious groups. Though traditional Catholics would never use these kinds of tactics.

It is tough to  know  a family sees those signs as they bury their soldier.
