  • Aside from the fact that they're Protestant.

I like that they're outspokenly anti-ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ and anti-Jєωιѕн. I saw a couple BBC docuмentaries hosted by the crypto-Jєω Louis Theroux that made for some very interesting viewing. You can find them on YouTube. The only point in the two videos when Theroux loses his cool is when they go to picket a ѕуηαgσgυє and he pleads to one of the members that "the Romans killed Jesus, not the Jєωs!"

I remember one of the regulars on Fisheaters referring to them as cowards. A totally perverse accusation. Like the tactic of saying the complete opposite of the truth or accusing an innocent of one's own sins.

I have no plans on converting to their Church, of course, but I do find them fascinating and wondering what the people here have to say.

    Here's the videos:

(Louis Theroux, the Most Hated Family In America)

Then he visits them 4 years later after some members have left:

(Louis Theroux: America's Most Hated Family in Crisis )

  • Some things good, esp they are not worshippers of the military/USA state as most baptists around me are........that said

    Very Anti-Catholic
Protesting at funerals is dis-respectful, no matter who died. Very class-less.....

  • They are unseemly attention-seekers.

While one can look at their antics and the reactions they cause with a kind of black humor, unfortunately they scandalize by their cultivation of absurdity that becomes sometimes overtly blasphemous.

"God hates the World" - just one example.

I'm just providing the link to show the sort of language they literally use:

    http://www.godhatestheworld.com/

That's not to say they're all necessarily malicious and bad-willed people, but they are highly perverse.  And they are heretics.

  • IMO, Baptists are perhaps the worst denomination. As Belloc said, they're very anti-Catholic. They're heretics like all the other Prots out there.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

  • from wiki:

" in 2011, the church stated that it had about 40 members"

there is a releif of sorts.....

a memo " "There are over 1 billion Catholics in the world—that's one out of every six people alive today—and every single one of them will split Hell wide open when they die—period. And there is nothing they can do about it."

or this didy, knocking us and the Orthodox ""There is no scripture that supports bowing down to kiss images ... or praying to Mary! She was a human being, who God predestinated to bring forth the Lord Jesus Christ, and to raise him."

    though some truth here:

"'The only true Jєωs are Christians. The rest of the people who claim to be Jєωs aren't, and they are nothing more than typical, impenitent sinners ... the vast majority of Jєωs support fαɢs. In fact, it is the official policy of Reformed Jєωs to support same-sex marriage. Of course, there are Jєωs who still believe God's law, but most of them have even departed from that. It doesn't matter if you're a Jєω or a Gentile...as long as you believe in Christ"

    wiki quotes a memo:

"The Westboro Baptist Church believes that Barack Obama is the Antichrist, and that he forms an Unholy Trinity with Satan and Pope Benedict XVI, who they believe is the False Prophet"

uh-huh, gotta love the Prot view that enemy of the week=antichrist....

    from wiki on Phelps:

"Phelps describes himself as an Old School Baptist, and states that he holds to all of the Five Points of Calvinism.[23] Phelps particularly highlights John Calvin's doctrine of unconditional election, the belief that God has elected certain people for salvation before birth, and limited atonement, the belief that Christ only died for the elect, and condemns those who believe otherwise.[24] Despite Phelps' claims of being a Primitive Baptist, he was ordained by a Southern Baptist church and is rejected and generally condemned by Primitive Baptists.[25]

Phelps views Arminianism (particularly the views of the Methodist theologian William Munsey) as a "worse blasphemy and heresy than that heard in all filthy Saturday night fag bars in the aggregate in the world".[26] In addition to John Calvin, Phelps admires Martin Luther and Bob Jones, Sr., and has approvingly quoted a statement by Jones that "what this country needs is 50 Jonathan Edwardses turned loose in it."[27] Phelps particularly holds to equal ultimacy, believing that "God Almighty makes some willing and he leads others into sin", a view he says is Calvinist.[28]

Phelps is against common Baptist practices like Sunday school meetings, Bible colleges and seminaries, and multi-denominational crusades,[29] although he attended Bob Jones University and worked with Billy Graham in his Los Angeles Crusade before Graham changed his views on a literal Hell and salvation. Phelps considers Graham the greatest false prophet since Balaam, and also condemns large church leaders such as Robert Schuller and Jerry Falwell, in addition to all current Catholics"

many Baptists I know now are taking the indifferent tone, ie, any follower of Jesus is fine, does not matter "what religion you are" approach and "its about relationship, not religion" common phrase...

but, what is underlying is that the Catholic must give in and up his particular beleifs to meet them the half of way...ie, EENS

  • They're a bunch od damn kooks and attention-whores, regardless of their position on "fαɢs", in the military or elsewhere. I have two sons serving and God forbid one them dies in battle and these weirdos come protesting at the funeral, I guarntee a few of them would be sent to the afterlife  that day where they can explain to God how they were disrespecting fallen soldiers all in his name.

I would love to see them pull their shananigans at a Muslim funeral.

    They know better.

They actually have "picketed" at least 1 Muslim funeral. It's mentioned in the second video. And they even burned the Koran.

That's part of the fascination for me. I guess I like it when people go out of their way to offend these sacred, protected groups. Taste of their own medicine and all that.

Well now, they're lucky enough to live a a "fag-lovin" country where their protected just like the queers they so much despise, otherwise they'd be starring in their own beheading videos, kind of ironic, isn' it?

As much as I'm  anti-ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ, I can't help but watch these people and see just how brainwashed and delusional they really are, they all look like they're on some kind of a drug or something.

These kooks give a bad name to religion, regardless what they call themselves.

I like that they don't criticize these groups with a kind of pretentious solemnity, which is an approach I often observe in neo-Caths, if they criticize these groups at all (they usually don't).

I get the impression they would still picket Muslim funerals even if they knew there was a fair chance of being killed. Their belief is that some of them will be killed in the coming years and the survivors will flee to Israel where they'll live in caves and help the Jєωs who convert. They are nutty, but I like their unpretentious and confrontational approach.

I think they're full of it, everyone talks a good game when they know full well that the  big bad gubbamint that they hate so much gaurntees their safety and the "right" to protest their wacky religious beliefs. I think these religious nuts would turn tail and run the minute a few skulls got bashed or in the Muslim's case a few machetes got pulled.

Americans are for the most part big talkers, mostly because they still have the good life with much to lose. maybe someday, when thigs really do start going south, we'll see just how many "martyrs" in the making are out there.

To me, these WBC people are the perfect example of the ol "there's no such thing as bad publicity" rule, they love being in the limelight.

I think their either master scam artists or truly batsh*t crazy.  :tinfoil:
