  • I would like ask for some HEALTHY input (spiritual and temporal) to this if anyone can give some advice on it. Now my mother works at a Novus Ordo parish. She directs the catechism program there. She has done a very good job in keeping things established there and she started using the Baltimore Catechism last year and has continued to do so. As a matter of fact, in this second catechism year since she started using the Baltimore Catechism, the number of students increased for the program, if I am not mistaken. Now, the parish has a diocesan pastor, but about over three years it ago it had Franciscan pastors for several years. The parish is trying to raise money for a hall, but it is also in need really more so of new classrooms for catechism. Sadly, the focus is put more on the hall than on the CCD classrooms, from what I have gathered. Certain lay people who help with things seem to be more for this, while my mother is the one who stands strongly against it and has to deal with that. I think the last Franciscan pastor would have put the CCD program first though. The other thing you must all keep in mind also is the area in which the parish is located. It is on the south side of my city, where there are a good number of Hispanic (mostly Mexican like me (or half of me lol) I assume :D) people, poverty, crime, and not the best education. So how could reform be brought to such a parish? What if the people want to not learn fully Catholic Tradition? How could we motivate them? Also, they would be used to having the NO liturgy in Spanish with some kind of Mexican music sung and played with guitar, drums, tambourine, etc., and so what could be done for such a parish, especially if Catholic Tradition were restored in the Church?
