  • Well I'm still a young man so I'm still collecting works of literature. :smirk:

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare

The Works of Joseph De Maistre

    George Orwell's 1984

The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson

When the Going Was Good!: American Life in the Fifities

Jack London's Call of the Wild and White Fang

    The Communist Manifesto

    The Conservative Mind

    Treasure Island

The Complete Tales of Uncle Remus

    George Orwell's Animal Farm

The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire

    The Poems of Whittier

    Aesop's Fables

    The Conscience of a Conservative

In Towns and Little Towns: The Poetry of Father Feeney

Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales and Troilus and Cressida

    Dante's Divine Comedy

    Hitler's Table Talk

    Mein Kampf

Of course I also have the Baltimore Catechism, and the Douay-Rheims and King James versions of the Bible along with some of Pat Buchanan's books. Not bad for someone who didn't graduate from college. :smirk:

    So what do you have?

  • We have a few sentimental books from his childhood. I don't have any adult books that I own except craft books.  I'm guessing 99 Knit Stitches and Mickey Unlimited Cross Stitch isn't what you had in mind.   :laugh1:

My son has The Complete Father Brown, Ben Hur, and The History of Middle-Earth books from the library. I just picked up How the Reformation Happened from the library but I haven't looked inside yet.  :detective:

We used to have a nice homeschool library but I trusted the wrong person with our belongings. :(

  • Do you want to know what we own of what we've actually read?

I picked up the first addition of the Great Books of the Western World at an estate sale years ago (the stuff they think is great), but I've only read one of them.  :smirk: I had previously read Homer, so I guess that makes two!

    Hitler's Table Talk

What use does a Catholic have for Hitler's ramblings?

  • I pick up any catholic book that is per vatican and or appears to be  from Tan books  to catechisms, Douay Rheim commentaries, children's catholic books, readers, math and english.  I started    in 1997 and pick up books from estate sales, thrift stores and I was glad that I did it.  I know that I am using a lot of "I"'s because in my family at that time, they thought it maddening.  Now, in 2012, they are looking for good books and come to me and say, Ma, do you have this book?  I am glad that I did this because I felt God was telling me, do it, because one day you will not be able to get your hands on a good catholic book.  I must also say, I don't use a library card anymore and haven't in maybe 15 years.  Besides, the libraries have gone to the left and what books they sold years ago, IF they were good, I bought them for 50 cents.  I went to one estate sale and found out it was one of our traditional parishioners of years ago and I got there on the last day of the sale and to my astonishment, the library was nothing but Catholic and it was hardly touched and I bought the whole lot at 50 cents a book, mainly Tan books.  I was in my joy! There was over 100 books!  I have list that I keep and any overage I give to family.

  • By the way Kepalos or whatever you call yourself nowadays you consider me having works of Hitler as bad but you don't consider me owning The Communist Manifesto bad?

    That's very strange.

  • A complete list would be way too much effort to compile, but I do cherish my complete collection of Fr. Faber's works, aside from his hymns and poetry (of which I have yet to find to be published in a complete and authoritative format). Thanks to Hobbledehoy for the recommendation!

We undertook that task a few years ago as I didn't like never being able to find anything. Now, many things I can look at my file and see what bookself to find the book on.

  • I own the following Traditional Catholic books (all of which I highly recommend, by the way):

"The Mass of All Time" by Archbishop Lefebvre
"Imitation of Christ" by Thomas A. Kempis
"Marcel Lefebvre: The Biography" by Bishiop Tissier
"Ascent of Mt. Carmel" by St. John of the Cross
    "ѕуηαgσgυє Rising" by Hugh Akins
"The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass" by Fr. Mueller
    "Divine Intimacy" by Fr. Gabriel
"The Horn of the Unicorn: A Mosaic of the Life of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre" by Dr. David Allen White
"The Twelve Steps to Holiness and Salvation" by St. Alphonsus Liguori

Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

    So what do you have?

I have forgotten all the contents of my library, since half thereof has been placed in storage somewhere out there: these are the books I used a student (textbooks, literary compilations, &c.) and books I cannot use anymore in good conscience (books regarding modernist philosophy, theurgy, alchemy and other arcane and prohibited matters that I had needed for research purposes in the University, &c.).

I still have Shakespeare in my room and some literature and poetry, but mostly my room is populated by Catholic tomes regarding matters devotional, theological, philosophical (Thomistic), devotional, Scriptural, liturgical, &c. I have a variety of Missals, Breviaries, Rituals, and other liturgical books; together with Latin dictionaries and textbooks.

Since I am a construction worker, I don't have time to read as much as I would wish.

    Oh well...

Please ignore all that I have written regarding sedevacantism.

  • Last night, I just finished reading Pope Saint Pius X by F.A Forbes  (TAn)  1918 ,2009

I really didn't know what to make of this  "  To the downright plain sense of the pope the desperate efforts of men who had explained away the content of historical Christianity to present  themselves as orthodox Roman Catholics were simply disingenuous......"

May God bless you and keep you
