  • If what you are claiming is, in fact, true, then we should be able to see the angular size of the Sun change twice a day as opposed to twice a year.

I'm afraid that there just aren't enough  :facepalm:s for this if you think this disproves geocentrism.  You're obviously in over your head when it comes to math, physics, and science.

You can count on your fingers how many astronomers and/or physicists are geocentrists:

Why not just say that the World is flat?  If you can find a single astronomer who has membership in the American Astronomical Society who is a geocentrist, please let me know:

Please Jehanne, calm down and stop trying to undermine the geocentric order of the universe by challenging everything a biblical geocentrist has to say. Instead try to understand the physics of it.

The two motions of the sun, daily and annually have different causes. In the G order the universe turns around the earth every day bringing day and night as Genesis says. It is this spin that shows us the sun where it is in the universe every day.

Then there is another movement of the sun WITHIN the universe, its annual journey from tropic to tropic over the equator once a year - to bring the SEASONS on earth as Genesis says.

Thus the sun is on an ongoing angular movement every day. Aphelion and perihelion happens only once a year.

Now if there were instruments accurate enough they would find the size of the sun on its annual journey changes even during one day.

There is no magic or tricks in measuring the changing size of the sun relative to the earth every day every year. If the size changes in 365 days then 1/350th of this change will happen in one day. Both Gs and Hs will see the very same thing.

Note I refer to myself as a biblical geocentrist. I realise that science, physics, the empirical method of man is NOT able to say with certainty what this order is. Thus knowing by REASON is not possible.

But there is a second route to knowing the order of the universe, REVELATION. The Bible reveals a geocentric order as illustrated by all the Fathers, a papal decree and its confirmation by other popes.

That is good enough for me. 'I am the truth' says Jesus, so I will go along with him and KNOW no heliocentrist will prove Him wrong, no matter how hard they try, including yourself Jehanne. Why not think about it and stop fighting the faith of all the Fathers and the whole Church until Galileo's attack on this revelation. Show a little extra faith, join St Robert Bellarmine as a biblical geocentrist and enjoy the omnipotence of God as Creator of such a visible cosmos. See the heliocentric heresy as an attack on His omnipotence, one of the most successful lies even fooling even the elect.

The truth will set you free from the prison of modern 'science.'

If Ladislaus does not mind I would like to comment on this post.

So successful have the Galilean heretics been in both Church and state that for over 200 years now anybody who believes in biblical geocentrism has been branded a LUNATIC. The Holy Office in 1820 called for Fr Anfossi an idiot for defending biblical geocentrism. google in the subject today, read Catholic forums and see what they call those defending geocentrism. There is not ONE geocentrist or creationist on the Church's Pontifical Academy of Sciences. Today's Churchmen do not like to disagree with pseudo-SCIENCE. Have you heard WHAT that Pope Francis said about God, not to think of Him like 'he was a magician,' waving a wand an pop up comes the earth. I would love to ask that man was the turning of water to wine not like a magician?

Now go over to PAID scientists. There is a book I have, recording the FIRING of creationists from every aspect of learning, let alone HIRING them.

Your comment is akin to saying why are there no traditional Catholics on Obama's advisory board. Were I to ask you that the answer you would give would be the answer to your question above.

Obviously jehanne, you do not understand how the attack on the Catholic faith works.

That said, there are of course scientists who are Gs, but they will not get hired to be paid with your tax money, that is reserved to those who advocate NATURALISM.

And E continues to rev around S

And your mind continues to revolve around formal heresy ... and may even have come in for a landing.

The Forum awaits a clarification of your post claiming that St Thomas was wrong about a 'few other things' .....

Few, I believe, means at least 3.

What do you mean by this???  :confused1:

Take it to a different thread.  One study found 40-some material errors in the works of St. Thomas (more than 3).  Research it.

You're trying to distract from your heresy with lame ad hominems.

No, I don't consider your heliocentrism to be heresy per se.  What I consider heresy is your imputation of error to Sacred Scripture.

So you'll claim that St. Thomas is infallible while Sacred Scripture is not?

First of all, as has been repeated ad nauseum: Physics is not in the least opposed to a Geocentric cosmological model, based on the Relativity of Motion.

Secondly, the overwhelming majority of scientists in pretty much every branch of the natural sciences are also atheists. Does that lend greater weight to atheism for you?

Sorry but i don't believe in heliocentrism...

Science has shown the universe to be acentric..... not heliocentric or geocentric

Pls show where I have endorsed the heliocentric model....

Now we are being told that 'one study found 40 some material errors...'

Pls cite the specific 'study' you are referring to.

The Forum is now witnessing an unprecedented attack on St Thomas....   :detective:

Like motion itself, roscoe, the term heliocentrism is in fact relative.  You keep saying that E revolves around S.  Consequently, you believed in a heliocentric relationship between the E and S.

Since when have I brought up St. Thomas on this thread?  You used it as a gratuitous ad hominem and a distraction.  What we're witnessing is an unprecedented attack on Sacred Scripture and the Church Fathers.

  • My understanding is that heliocentrism is a belief that the sun is the center of the universe. I do not subscribe to this theory.

If you would like to say that i do, be my guest.  :roll-laugh2:
