  • Back when I was in the novus ordo wasteland, I remember staying after mass to pray a little more.... An associate priest came out to the "alter" (meal table) or near it for something, and before he returned to the sacristy or wherever he went, he looked up at the ceiling with a smile as he twirled his body around. He didn't make a big commotion, and I think he thought he was not observed, or maybe he thought it was ambiguous enough that nobody would question it if he was seen.  I thought it was strange. Does anybody know anything about this behavior? Is it some kind of freemasonic or pagan ritual, or something along those lines?

  • It sounds like a ritual done by the dervishes.

The whirling dance or Sufi whirling that is proverbially associated with Dervishes is best known in the West by the practices (performances) of the Mevlevi order in Turkey, and is part of a formal ceremony known as the Sema. It is, however, also practiced by other orders. The Sema is only one of the many Sufi ceremonies performed to try to reach religious ecstasy (majdhb, fana). The name Mevlevi comes from the Persian poet, Rumi who was a Dervish himself. This practice, though not intended as entertainment, has become a tourist attraction in Turkey.[9] [10][11]

If I were into that I would make sure that everybody had left teh room.

  • When I saw the thread title, I just assumed the OP was talking about a NO presider who performed the NOM.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

Frankly, this is probably the most credible explanation.  What you described is not a Novus Ordo ritual and, unless you saw it done many times, it wasn't a "ritual" at all.  It was just a spur of the moment action done by someone who had a sudden feeling of bliss.  The action described does not seem to reflect the joy one has may have from God, but the "I Feel Pretty" kind of sensual delight one might get from reminiscing on some memory.

  • Maybe it was just a spontaneous action of joy at being in the Presence of God? Not necessarily irreverent of sinister...

  • Acting that way in front of the "altar" has no explanation. It's irreverent. Definitely not pius.

But since its a novus ordo club, I guess it's okay.

Based on the few video clips of sodomite pride parades I've seen (I can't say I have ever attended one) some of the men do indeed act this way.  Many of the men (and most of the women) look very masculine and very muscular.  But many of the men look very effeminate and do things like what was described in the opening post.
