If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • Labor Day weekend in the USA, a communist holiday!  I am working today, Saturday, and again on Monday, the actual holiday.  If I were a commie, I'd go protest something in Union Square.  But then I'd lose the opportunity to show charity towards my downstairs neighbor and to make gas and toll $$ money for Mass in two weeks.  Sunday, I'm undecided.  It is SSPX where I may or may not be given communion, and will definitely be treated badly, or home-alone.  The world will flock to the beaches and the malls for the last hurrah of summer.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • Make a bonfire with the children in a neighbouring field and explode two empty 5 litre mini barrels of French lager and a half empty can of WD40, which I snapped the sprayer nozzle off when I dropped it, have been saving it for a suitable occasion with clearance.. Then roast some lamb pit barbecue style in a hole I dug this morning.  Takes 15 hours.

Is this based on experience. I've only been to one SSPX Mass and I was treated alright.

  • I'm traveling around the mountains of east TN, Asheville, NC, and maybe southwest VA this weekend.  Anybody know of an SSPX where I can attend Mass tomorrow in that area.

  • Yes, for "Labor" day I plan to work. Imagine that! hahaha

There's nothing Catholic or even Christian about this pseudo-holiday, so I feel no need to celebrate it. I believe Frances that it's a Communist holiday.

And being as I haven't been an "employee" for 9 years, the value of a bank holiday or a good-old excuse for a day off is lost on me. For contract workers and the self-employed, when you don't work you don't get paid.

This weekend, I plan to stay busy and go to Mass on Sunday morning of course.

Good riddance to July and August, though. Those are the two hottest months in Texas. After these 2 months, it's all downhill. Texas isn't ridiculously hot except for July and August.

It's supposed to be 102 today, and 104 tomorrow. See what I mean?
(The average is 89 -- go figure.)

  •  :thinking:Mea culpa!  Please forgive snide remark re: SSPX.  I had just received a nasty email containing a threat not to show my face or else ....It is unfair to count this against the entire chapel.  It is doubtful the priest who is only visiting cares one way or the other where I spent my summer.  There are still plenty of priests and laity who are of goodwill.  One should hear Mass to worship God, not to be treated well.  In reality, more graces are given the one who is treated badly and goes anyway without complaint.  Looks like I blew my opportunity.
My one legitimate point is that others have been denied the Sacraments in other chapels for far less. This IS true injustice.
What Matthew says is true about "holidays" like Labor Day in the U.S.  It commemorates the huge rally and strike of garment workers in Union Square, New York City in 1911.  It was run by Jєωιѕн communist feminists.  Hardly a "holy day" for Catholics!  I do both kinds of work to make ends meet, salaried work and self-employed/contract.  These "holidays" come in handy!  They're an opportunity to supplement the full-time salary job on which pay I cannot live!
A former student of mine is due to give birth to their third child on Sept. 3, so we're praying for Monica to have a literal "labor" day on the 2nd!  Pray for safe labor and healthy daughter for Carlos and Monica R. and two big brothers, Carlos, Jr.5, and Juan, 2.
    Happy Labor Day!

  • I've always disliked most federal holidays.  Days like July 4th and Labor Day I am generally not even allowed to come to work...but Holy Days like the Assumption I have to.  I'd rather take those off so I have more opportunity to assist at Mass.  At any rate, I'll be getting ahead on my class assignments, caught up on farm work, and the like.  Animals still have to be fed no matter what day it is.

  • I empathize with our moderator, even though it is nowhere as hot here as it is in Texas. But that is Dixie in the summertime.  :cowboy:

Will send arctic air further south as soon as it becomes available. Looks like a cold and snowy winter is coming :jumping2: :jumping2:

  • Saturday, we took off to Lancaster, pa and lunch at Dienners Restaurant.  Then we went on horse and Buggy ride.  Then we drove around looking at farms.

Sunday, Monday back to work. I made indoor picnic dinner of bison burgers, macaroni salad, stuffed eggs, and roasted asparagus.

Then we watched news. Then we watched "Call of the Wildman" on animal planet.
May God bless you and keep you
