  • I thought I was hallucinating at first!  I was working on lesson plans and the whole house started to shake.  I checked the children who were playing outside, totally unaware.  Then my teenager came running down stairs.  He was reading a book on his bed and he was really freaked out!

This is my first experience like this.

    What is coming next??

  • Really!  What state do you live in?  I was in several earthquakes.  My advice would be, make sure nothing heavy is above your children's bed when they are sleeping.  Draw some water.

Usually when you have one earthquake, another one might follow, for sure aftershocks.
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Oh dear! I'm glad to hear that everyone is alright, other than thoroughly shaken. Where do you live?

I was in a small earthquake on Dec 3, 1990 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA.  It was predicted by Iben Browning, as a result of this he received quite a bit of coverage before and of course AFTER. The campus I was at was practically deserted that day and professors were giving students credit for attending....then the shaking started. In fact while it was happening I thought it was a construction truck (as they were doing repairs outside) that perhaps hit the building. It felt like shaking, but really subtle. Classmates however were jumping out of their seats, running for the door and others under their tables. I stayed absolutely still as I didn't think it was an earthquake until the Professor led the remaining students out of the hall and next to our classroom is a huge seismograph and there was a huge spike in it and and I was simply astounded. I stayed to graduate and we had several other quakes but none that strong (4.3 if I recall)....during one quake in mid 1990's it wasn't as big as but it was strong enough to create cracks in my wall...had to call the landlord to have him take a look, it was of no concern in the end.

If anyone is interested in reading about the New Madrid Fault which is the largest earthquake in US history that had the Mississippi River flow BACKWARDS for several days, I think wilkipedia gives a decent overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Madrid_Seismic_Zone

According to some research what the Fault line is experiencing is simply aftershocks from the 1811-13 earthquakes! Pretty incredible if correct.

Mom, not to derail your sharing of this news it just brought back memories. I pray that you will not experience anything more serious than what you just have. Many blessing to you!

DC is all shut down--the Monuments on the Mall, the Capital Rotunda roped off, huge mass exodus and terrible traffic.

I simply could not process it as it was happening.  It was so intense, DC is all freaked out and nobody's cell phone is working.

We are all still calming down because it was so intense.  Some fairly heavy damage close by.

I think this may be a foreshock.  I've been in a number of EQs, happened to be in Richmond in the 4-something EQ in 2003, but this was just way more intense...

This really goes to show how everything can change in a few seconds and how important it is to stay in the state of grace and pray the Rosary daily!

The news is talking BS about how it is normal here--an outright lie for whatever reason.

  • Wow! The news online says that it was felt from South Carolina to New England  and even in Columbus, Ohio.  I wonder how far west and how far north the quake was felt.  I bet a lot of people were making Acts of Contrition.

  • I was driving (I'm from northern Virginia) and I did not feel it. Apparently I pulled in to a Dairy Queen as soon as it ended because when I walked inside, people were still hiding under tables and hanging on to each other. I didn't know what was going on.

  • We had a 4.2 aftershock which we didn't notice.  At least I pray it was an aftershock.

    Talk about 'divers places' !
      :tinfoil:
Tons of places closed and cancelled.  It is so much like 9-11 around here this day

  • I was also driving at the time, and did not feel anything.

  • I've read it's the first earthquake in that region since 1882. Is that true?

Also I've been under the impression that the USA's East Coast is not an earthquake territory, especially not for such a magnitude?

However, we've seen an increased earthquake and volcano activity during the last years all over the world. These are signs. No matter if these earthquakes are naturally or "helped" by the oldest enemies of Our Lord with their HAARP (in which case God would have allowed them to strike), the signs increase and are pointing to storm.

Bishop Williamson gave us storm advices for some years now (in every aspect) and I'm sure we'll soon see in action what he's said for so long. "Let's fasten our seat belts. Party is over soon."

  • I was at work, in a multi-story building... whole place shook. Everyone was totally unaware (aka mindless spineless sheeple), no one left the building, except for me and about 5 other people. A bunch of federal buildings around us were promptly evacuated and returned to work in a half hour.

Remember to all.... stay in a state of grace! For we never know when we will be called back to Our Lord.

And pray for me that if another one happens, I don't get stuck under a concrete beam or something when everything collapses !! Ugh, what a way to go... yet I would accept it from God if it were His will for me to go that way, of course.
