The "it is good if it works" idea is Pragmatism.  William James was a big proponent of this idea, and it is at the heart of things like AA, etc.  In AA, you can use a tree or a door knob for your "Higher Power", if such suits you.

Clearly, whatever people are choosing and "using", it is NOT working too well.

This infection from the East is precisely why there are some who think they are saving the day by advocating the excessively-strict and incorrect understanding of EENS.

Many times during the past 8 yrs, the hero of Evangelicals and NeoCaths-GW Bush-stated that is why America was great, that we can beleive in anything or nothing, we are all equally American......also, stated mroe than once publicly, there were many different ways to get to heaven.......guess we can chuck  John 14:6

The Freemasons have been advocating the New Age "Ex Oriente Lux" ideas for a very long time.

Hinduism has little to do with it.  Nor is the phenomenon particularly new - perhaps it is far advanced.

The most serious problem is not the religious indifferentism of the American people, but the religious indifferentism displayed by Catholic clergy.
