Did the south attack and commit violence against Catholics, like happened in the North? no, not that I am aware of
The South was more decentralized, with smaller famrs nad businesses, more in line with subsidiarity then much of the north, esp in New England and parts of NY, NJ and PA.
Teh South had a lot less of that Puritan mindset in N-E and elsewehre against subsidiarity and Catholics..
Catholics normally were treated much better and not attacked nor molested near as much.
The North, when invading the South, committed atrocities that South did not-more adhering to Just War (Lee punished and threatened to any one that committed the outrages that Sherman and his buddies encouraged)
The Nroth when invading attacked and burned Catholic houses of worship, none of this happened that I have heard in MD nor PA...
The Confederate cabinet and state govts had active participation, that was not welcomed in much of the north.
Davis was close to becoming Catholic, talked out of it-sadly-by his family, but always was very open to Catholics, his daughters were sent to and hidden in Catholic
a few things to start looking at is The South is Right and there is a book out there about a Irish Catholic priest that was active in the South, I think Angelus press sells it.....
let me clarify, though, that neither the CSA, nor the USA were Catholic states as they should be, but the South had I think much more possibilities and still abdied by more Catholic residual, like subsidiarity, then the Puritan dominated north...also, the vacant seat has been vacant since 1865, I am a SV when it comes to the CSA......now too dominated by dundies, but at one time, fertile soil me thinks for conversion!
Pray for the reign of Christ the King and the CSO!!
