  • Has anyone read War and Peace?  Is it appropriate for a high school student?

  • I have read War and Peace as a teenager. I don't recall anything inappropriate in it. I don't think that Tolstoy wrote anything at the time about the Christian anarchist thought that made him famous in his later years.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

Cantarella it is inappropriate and the Church has warned us. Common sense even without the warnings, it's contrary to Christian thought.

There might be value to know who wrote it and what it's about for cultural knowledge but I wouldn't have my son read it.

I saw the OLD movie with Anthony Hopkins looking about 20.  :dancing:

  • I had no idea that the Church had warned about that book.  Where can I find this? Also,  why the novel would be contrary to Christian thought?  As I said,  I read the book when I was very young and may be forgetting something.

  • Existentialism is warned about and is contrary to Christian thought.

  • I have the movie War & Peace by Bondarchuk. I call it "Bored of the Piece of Sh#!*".

The novel, I have never read nor desired to read. For me it would make a good sleeping sedative, or mulch.

    To each his own.
