  • I am not easily shocked by human malice, but this did it.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  •   :sad:I feel more pity for the poor person who sent the letter.  It must be horrible to live with such hatred.  My guess is that the person is a woman who aborted her handicapped baby.  I once received a SIGNED letter from three persons who instructed me to kill myself that the world and I would be better off.  All three were miserable.  One was married to an abusive man.  One was flunking out of school.  The third was jealous of academic honours I received.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • I'll play devil's advocate.

Is there any chance the recipient sent the letter to herself as a publicity stunt?

  • To quote Chesterton, this puts me "in the mood in which men burned witches."

I can understand how someone might think that, but as the father of a child with autism (and as an autie myself), I can tell you that we receive enough unwanted attention already. Now, if she really did this as a stunt, she's as low as her fictional neighbor.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

Child stars from Hollywood posted the letter indicating they knew the family.  What are the odds?  It could be a stunt to raise awareness for autism.

The person that wrote the letter is under the impression the child lives in the neighborhood.  However, the article states that the child visits grandparents in the summer months.  I think a close neighbor would notice a child being picked up. Grandparents are usually older so you probably wouldn't confuse them for being parents.   The writer also states  she is a mother. Why give that info out? Their can't be that many mothers in the neighborhood. They would know it was you that wrote the letter.

  • The ignoramus had nothing better to do than write a letter like that? Whoever wrote it will get theirs some day - what you give, you'll receive, bank on it.
