Vatican prelate in 'gαy romance' with Swiss guard

AFP - The Vatican's "gαy lobby" was back in the headlines on Friday after the alleged exposure of a ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ prelate appointed by Pope Francis to a key position at the Vatican bank.

The Italian weekly L'Espresso said prelate Battista Ricca had gαy relationships during his time at the Vatican embassy of Montevideo in Uruguay as well as an affair with a Swiss guard which ultimately saw him sent back to Rome in disgrace.

Vatican expert for L'Espresso Sandro Magister said Ricca provided lodgings and a pay check for captain Patrick Haari in 1999 and was once left badly beaten after trawling notorious gαy hangouts before his behaviour saw him transferred out of Montevideo in 2000.

An internal bid to protect him and cover up the scandal meant Francis apparently had no idea   about Ricca's past before he appointed him as his personal representative at the scandal-hit bank this year.

Ricca went on to hold several prestigious positions in Rome, including the director of the Santa Martha residence where the pope lives.

Magister said the wiping of Ricca's records was an example of a "gαy lobby" at work in the Vatican.

Vatican spokesman Frederico Lombardi brushed off the story as "not credible" but the magazine insisted the allegations were confirmed by primary sources. It said "numerous bishops, priests, religious and laity" in Uruguay had testified against Ricca.

Religious watchers said the leaks about Ricca's past may be an internal attempt to block the prelate from carrying out reforms.

In June, Francis admitted the existence of a "gαy lobby" inside the Vatican's secretive administration, the Roman Curia.

"In the Curia, there are truly some saints, but there is also a current of corruption... There is talk of a 'gαy lobby' and it's true, it exists," he was quoted as having said during an audience with CLAR (the Latin American and Caribbean Confederation of Religious Men and Women).

The admission followed Italian media reports in February which claimed that a secret report by cardinals investigating leaks from within the Vatican included allegations of corruption and blackmail attempts against gαy clergymen, and on the other hand, favouritism based on gαy relationships.
     :stare:
If the allegations are proven to be true, it would be a blow to Francis's attempts to clean up the scandal-hit Vatican.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • Nothing surprises me anymore about in what is really going on
in the Vatican. All shock values have been lost.

  • Bishop Sanborn had an interesting point on Restoration radio. He said 'lobby' isn't the right word because a lobby is necessarily outside. These peeverts are not outside, they're the living hierarchy of the newchurch.
"Be kind; do not seek the malicious satisfaction of having discovered an additional enemy to the Church... And, above all, be scrupulously truthful. To all, friends and foes alike, give that serious attention which does not misrepresent any opinion, does not distort any statement, does not mutilate any quotation. We need not fear to serve the cause of Christ less efficiently by putting on His spirit". (Vermeersch, 1913).

  • That is behaviour that I do not approve of. If it is true then somebody needs to go to confession.

This reminds me of something I heard some years ago. Someone went to Rome and attended a mass presided by Bl John Paul II. Bl John Paul II appeared very angry. this visitor said something about that to a Vatican functionary. The functionary's reply was, "You would be mad too if you were lied to as often as he is."

Yes, the poor "prisoner 'Pope.'" We all know how that staunch defender of the Faith tirelessly fought the wolves with heroic virtue.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

I'm pretty sure the reason that it was addressed to you isn't because anyone thinks that you actually approve of sodomy on the part of prelates and their lackeys, but that you represent the conspicuous neo-Catholic conscience which only frequently laments 'social' injustices (poverty, war, slavery) and very obvious moral infractions (abortion, gαy 'marriage,' persecution of Catholics); while being glaringly silent on the issues of mass apostasy, doctrinal betrayal and liberal/ʝʊdɛօ-masonic infiltration of the Church, instead favoring the 'new pentecost' of Vatican II and the 'renewal of faith' professed by the conciliar superheroes Paul VI, JPII, BXVI and now Francis.

Hopefully you will someday take advantage of the great resources on a site like this and others to bring yourself to flee from the wolves with purple buttons in the marble halls.

  • We know that Pope Francis wants to "flat-line" the Church.
Maybe this scandal will be his excuse to dismiss the Swiss Guard ?

After all, his modernist predecessor, Paul VI, dismissed the elite Swiss Guard protecting the Pope in his living quarters.

The obvious purpose was to allow "friends" could come and go without scrutiny.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

And into the ever-welcoming arms of the sedevacantists?

Sounds like "Out of the frying pan into the fire" to me!

Poche is definitely confused and more than a bit naive, but (I think) well-intentioned. That is hardly a sin, and probably not his/her fault entirely. Many of us were like him/her in the past. It would be best to show good example and charity, rather then constant ridicule because he/she is not as knowledgeable as most Trads.

I'm not going to assume anything about anyone's inner disposition.

For more than a year Poche has been doing the same thing (here and on every other forum), and has received much in the way of traditional instruction and recommendation from other posters.  Well-intentioned he may be, he has completely ignored many month's worth of people being patient with his conciliar propaganda and trying to point him towards Catholic Tradition.  I am not being rash.

Fleeing from the wolves in Rome isn't necessarily "sedevacantism".
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

This is worse than the "canonization" of JP2. I haven't been able to say canonizations are infallible for some time now, but if one of the two Popes doesn't put Ricca down  (either Pope, I don't care which one), Ricca's appointment makes mockery of God. If Ricca hadn't been caught so many times, I guess he could have "aged out" of his sickness, but GOOD HEAVENS Pope Benedict just banned new gαy seminarians! What kind of message is the second Pope sending here? There's just no excuse. None. Not one. This is disgusting.
