Vandaler was banned from CathInfo for hacking.

Erin is Nice was banned for either changing, or having Vandaler change, her username using the same software hack.

I'm not sure if Vandaler taught her how, or did it himself. Either way, I can't tolerate people violating and breaking the software that runs this website. It threatens the very integrity of the site itself.

I don't see how Vandaler is any better than a terrorist. He uses asymmetrical warfare techniques to achieve his ideological aims (in this case, liberalism)

Is a terrorist somehow "nicer" if he is fighting for liberal beliefs like "men and women are equal", "there is no such thing as race", etc. -- compared with a classic terrorist who believes in a strict version of Islam?

Also, I have disabled the PM function until further notice.

According to the author of Mercuryboard, there is a software vulnerability in that module. He said he will be patching it in a few days, when he will release a special security-only update (version 1.1.7).

I will install that as soon as it comes out.

Since they are no longer present here, possibly Erin's and Vandaler's votes in the ban roscoe poll could be removed to reflect a truer state of affairs.

Well nullified, but still hyperbolic. Deserves no answer.

I am baffled however that you would be willing to ban me in bad terms, but not do so when I ask for it politely.

I must be to liberal to understand that part.

Either way, I do acknowledge you gave me a voice to respond to the incident, so that much is commendable.

Well, being as I thought that membership on Cathinfo was permitting various breeches of the software, I thought it prudent to ban both people that were exhibiting "hacked" behavior, until I could investigate further.

Fortunately, my board is more secure as a result of all this fracas.
