Title: VA Beach mission chapel
Post by: Olive on May 03, 2014, 04:50:45 PM
Does anyone here know whether the priest at the SSPX's VA Beach mission has been conditionally ordained?  I know he came over from the Novus Ordo and was an Army chaplain.  Fr. Pieroni is his name, I think.

Thanks so much for any insight.

I have heard that he has not been conditionally re-ordained, but I don't have any proof.

This reminds me of this thread here (http://www.cathinfo.com/catholic.php?a=topic&t=30377&min=25&num=5), where hugeman let us know that a Novus Ordo "priest" who was never conditionally ordained is living at the Ridgefield priory which is near me. I don't know if they let him say mass or not, but it frightens me.

If you need another Mass option, this chapel is in that area of Virginia:

St. Augustine Church
12083 Smith Neck Rd.
Carrollton, VA 23314
757-357-5213
Fr. Daniel Ahern

Fr. Ahern and the other priests who attend that chapel are all former SSPX, theologically sound and good and trustworthy priests.  They were all ordained by Archbishop Lefebvre himself.

Thanks.  We are in that area for business on occasion, and it is good to know the options.  (and it would still be good to know whether the SSPX priest assigned there has been conditionally ordained, naturally).

I agree, and it is a very unfortunate situation that SSPX can no longer be trusted in this area, as they are allowing priests with the doubtful Paul VI rite to staff their chapels.   You also have to be careful in situations in which the regular priest is not the only priest, as the Hosts in the tabernacle may have come from a dubious priest, even though the priest saying the Mass is valid.

If the SSPX wants us to trust them again, they need to make it a policy that only a priest ordained in the Catholic rite by a bishop who himself was both ordained and consecrated in the Catholic rite are the only priests allowed to attend to their chapels.  The use of the Paul VI dubious rite is unacceptable and very possibly invalid.

First, it is not incuŠ¼bent upon anyone to prove someone was not conditionally ordained; it is incuŠ¼bent that conditional ordination is proved.

Second, the best solution is to ask him if you wish to attend his Mass.   If he will not tell you, then the answer is no.  If he says you must trust the SSPX, the answer is no.  If he condemns you for asking, the answer is no.  If you cannot speak to him directly but leave him a voicemail or send an email and he does not respond, the answer is no.  If he says that he was conditionally ordained by one of the SSPX bishops, I would accept his word.

I'm afraid I don't know if he was conditionally ordained or not, but he is also the pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Richmond. I attended Mass there before and the people were very kind. Perhaps you can contact them and ask?

Why would anyone expect that the SSPX would re-ordain a NO priest?  They recognize them as Catholic priests with no need for re-ordination, or at least they should.  If they don't, than makes their current talks with the Vatican even more odd than they already appear to be.
