Urgent Prayer Request Re "Euthanasia"

  • I had to say goodbye to my mother last night.  She had a stroke.  A massive one.  She is unable to do much of anything.  However, I do believe she can still hear people as when I spoke with her I thought I could see tears forming in her closed eyes.

Right now, she is getting nourishment.  However, my father has told me he will deny a feeding tube if the doctor recommends it or she doesn't seem to be "benefiting" from the nourishment she is receiving.  I don't understand how can she not benefit from it as it keeps her alive instead of starving her!  But the death culture doctors say it can interfere with something.

My family is liberal Novus Ordo.  I argued with all of them, but especially pleaded with my dad as he has power of attorney.  I gave him the church teaching, I told him to refer to docuмents coming from the Vatican on the matter.  His answer... he talked to his priest and he said it was ok!  I told him his priest was wrong.  God have mercy on such "priests".

My mom was part of this decision.  That was the other thing.  My dad thinks he is carrying out her last wishes.

So my family told me to stop being combative and start supporting Dad.  I told them I will never support his decision.

I asked my mother to plead with the Mother of God to give her the ability to make a perfect act of contrition.  Please pray for this intention as well.  Also please pray for my family.  That they may soften their hearts and convert at some point in their lives.
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.

What a difficult situation. So sorry, Mrs. Johnson. Prayers for all involved.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

  • So sorry to hear of your sad situation.  Don't forget the prayers for the dying from the Roman Ritual listed here on Cathinfo under The Sacred Catholic liturgy chant and prayers.

  • I received the below email from Sean Johnson on October 7th.  I was lucky to see it since it went into my spam email box.  I suspect it might have gone into the smam box as a result of the list of recipients being very large, but that is only a speculation on my part.  It would be most unfortunate if it had gone into other people's spam box as well.  Normally, my emai from Sean goes into my inbox.  I think this was the first one I ever got from him that went into my spam box.

    Dear All-

My wife just received a call that her mother has suffered a massive stroke, and has been air-lifted to a hospital.

She is a liberal Novus Ordo Catholic, and needs to make a confession, but she cannot speak!

I believe she says a Rosary every day, but....

We are asking everyone we can if they would consider saying JUST ONE HAIL MARY for this intention:

That she will be able to make a perfect act of contrition (or confession).

    The prayer is needed IMMEDIATELY.

    Semper Idem,
    Sean Johnson (Br. Athanasius, T.O.P.)

"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

I think this is a good idea, but she is not responsive, meaning, she can not gesture to show contrition for her sins. If she is able to follow a simple command, I will try to get a trad priest there.  Last night, I told her to plead with the Mother of God to give her the ability to make a Perfect Act of Contrition.

She was given last rites by a NO priest the first day of the stroke.  Not sure if she was able to gesture at that point, or if the Sacrament was valid.

Is there much a priest can do if she cannot show contrition?
Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine.

  • I believe he can give conditional absolution and real last rights which could give her the grace that she needs. The novus ordo priest didn't do anything for her.

  • Dear Mrs. Johnson,

In any event -- and as you and Sean probably well know -- no matter how bad things may look at the time of one's death we may pray for their soul after their death as long as we are permitted to live and can pray.  God who exists outside of time can apply those prayers retroactively, if you will, for the benefit of one's soul and those prayers even after one's death can sometimes make all the difference in whether a particular soul is saved or lost.

  • I am trying to get in touch with a traditional priest in the area.  I am encouraged.  I just spoke with my father.  He said she had managed to move her whole shoulder off the bed from being uncomfortable and moved the right side of her body, which she had not done before.  He told me he can't wait to get her home to take care of her.  Maybe he has had a change of heart.  Please God! He also said she opened her eyes very, very briefly today. Thank you for the prayers.
