  • From the Introduce Yourself thread, an earlier today post from me.

'Joining and being away mostly, every so often the puzzle has occurred to me... and recurred to me last night briefly before sleep so...

I know I will never ever down-vote anybody, no matter the opinion, manner, aspect... and wondered what is the use of such a system; the point might have been to ?

Some may remember I stumbled around the first time, and began a thread, then realizing, because of a kind Hero Member Ladislaus  in fact, who responded via PM and helped right away with questions I had had at the time of arrival, in fact the questions that prompted me to actually join ...that I didn't need to take on a thread = too much responsibility for me in fact.  In response to my request it was deleted.   I think my plus minus was adjusted because originally lots of people down voted me and it seems others up voted.

But at least one person, and that one is me, looking around today and also noticing but not focusing upon the up voting and down voting, came across people actually speculating on why a person was banned.  I'm only writing now, full of faults and trusting God, to say:  I'm seeing the down vote aspect as more an indication of where a particular person is 'at' and saying more about the person passing judgment, than about another person's manifestation on the site, and through that, that person, inevitably.  Different people take that differently.  It seems a strange bird, the system, at home nowhere but lodging here among us.

It strikes me as an unnecessary hardness unnecessarily thickening skins when in life, a thin skin, though at times painful as I can attest, is actually more permeable to conveying grace to strangers?  At least, in my experience, it seems; one goes back, one reconnects, and one heals both parties.'
