Finally, the UN is gaining some credibility! The question is, what are they going to do about it?

All smoke and mirrors. Pay it no mind.

And I think I speak for many here when I say: Please no more links to Neocon / Ameritard websites.

Agreed. American parrotism at its worst. *GOD BLESS AMERICA! BWAWK!*
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

I see. Well, no harm, no foul.

I did not down-thumb you, btw.

  • No one sees the irony of promoting women's equality here?

Anyway... The site is totally biased in it's depiction of the resolution.  It did not name Israel as #1 violator, but rather singled Israel out which is not surprising considering that Palestine was a co-drafter.

Most of us recognize that American "Conservatism" is merely another variety of post-Englightenment liberalism, so I don't think it'd register as "ironic" to anyone, other than maybe the OP (if it registers with him at all).

Most of the so-called "conservative" parties of Europe openly described their ideology as "liberal conservatism."  If "liberal" wasn't such a boogeyman word in American politics (the left of Europe at least admits the truth, and call themselves "socialists"), I'm sure the GOP would refer to themselves that way too.

Good point. And, what with the increasingly undeniable impotence of the Republican party in the face of moral rot and decadence - to the point that a freak like Bruce Jenner seems to stand a good chance of realizing his apparent dream to become a new poster-thing for the Republican Party - I think we'll arrive there sooner rather than later.

"Libertarian" seems to be the gateway drug that will get us to the stage of open "conservative" embrace of formal "liberalism."

    That was my first thought.

Some of us <mea culpa> come to the party a little late in realizing this truth.  For me, it was after years of active Libertarian party participation, and post conversion from n.o. to tradition.  Raised in a large military EWTN-Catholic family, and friends of the same stripe, we believed we were all good Americans and good Catholics.
In retrospect, it was in that order, by the way.  When you're an Americanist, it's very difficult to filter politics through Church teaching - country first.  With military families (on base) even more so. The first sounds at dawn are Reveille, shortly followed by soldiers marching in cadence.  For us, family prayer was later, and the local chapel didn't ring it's bell for Mass until after breakfast, in a way establishing the "country first" mentality.

I admit that back in the day I would have appreciated the article that PTR posted and rationalized some kind of good from it.
