  • Thank you Myrna!  I found my new friend, St. Jane de Chantal.

I was just this week dealing with my oldest child moving out of the home.

St. Jane is against parents separated from children.

I was also thinking this week about how alone I would be if my H were to die first.  I have no other family than my children (and there are only 2 of them).  I have wondered if there were any convents that would accept older widows anymore.

St. Jane founded the Visitation Order for women who were rejected by other orders because of poor health or age.

    Pretty amazing!

  • I tried it.  Got St. Thomas Aquinas. I am honored.  Way above my pay grade.

I usually rely heavily on St. Rita

  • St. James the Greater for me.  Patron saint of Equestrians. Rather fitting for me, i'd like to think.

    Thanks, Myrna!
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.

While you're there, say a prayer for Jennifer. She's had some big health problems recently and is expecting a baby in the spring. I don't follow her blog, but have seen prayer requests posted elsewhere.

It looks like she's doing much better, but I'm sure she'd appreciate the prayers:

  • That made me smile.

    Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort

We were recently acquainted when I read a book about him before Christmas. I have known about the True Devotion to Mary and have done the consecration but had never really learned about the saint behind it until then.

I have thought about him often since then in parallel to our priests today. He was so strong in preaching against the errors of his day that he was expelled by several dioceses. The bishops were Catholic in name and position but had Jansenist leanings or sympathies.

I guess this confirms he has more to tell me.
