...though it will just be a bad thunderstorm by the time it gets to us -- we're not near the coast or anything. They're predicting high winds and some torrential rains -- possibly small random tornadoes -- we'll probably stay home tomorrow (not much change for us!)

Maybe be ready to dig trenches away from your house--I have had to do that while my husband was at the office during a few deluges. It prevented a lot of damage.

We live on a bit of a hill -- we have some "temporary creeks" on our land when we get a lot of rain, but it all goes downhill from us.

There's much more runoff when there's no grass. Right now it's pretty green out there.
