  • Hey guys, decided to start another thread to keep things organized. Does anyone know where I can find a good thorough Catholic dictionary online? I have heard of The Catholic Encyclopedic Dictionary published one 1941 by the Gilmary Society but am unable to find it online and it’s really expensive to buy used.

  • Welcome to Traditional Catholic Dictionary Online!
This Traditional Catholic Dictionary is a polyglot of several Traditional references dating back to 1940 and beyond, and is suitable for those who follow the Traditional Roman Catholic Faith prior to Vatican II.

"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

'A Catholic Dictionary', by William E. Addis and Thomas Arnold, first published in 1883.

I got a copy from 1954 with an imprimatur from 1951 for just £10 from Abe Books a couple of years ago, in very good condition. It isn't a small book either, it's a good three inches thick. It's like a concise version of the Catholic Encyclopedia. I'd recommend it.

(Hello again to Cathinfo, BTW, apart from one post last week it turns out I haven't posted since 2016.)
