There is nothing like the Galileo case to plunge anyone into Modernist mode.

After reading TRADITIO's efforts to associate Pope Francis's global-warning upcoming encyclical with the Church of 1616 and 1633, I sent that lot the following:

Dear Traditio,

I was referred to your site to read your article
Francis-Bergoglio Has Learned Nothing from the Galileo Debacle in which it says:

'He Is Obviously Ignorant of the Lessons of the Galileo Debacle
That Popes Should "Stay 'like Hell' out of Science"'
'Is Francis-Bergoglio history impaired? Apparently.'

No, it is whoever wrote this article comparing global warming with the Galileo case who is the one whose history is impaired.
I then read the referenced essay on GALILEO. The essence of the Galileo case is TOTALLY IGNORED. How dare you present the Galileo case as the Church meddling in science. The Church, popes and theologians of 1616 and 1633 were defending the UNANIMOUS GEOCENTRIC INTERPRETATION OF SCRIPTURE HELD BY ALL THE FATHERS as the Council of TRENT ordered. I then read this nonsense:

'Galileo was not condemned.'

He was of course, he was found guilty of SUSPICION OF HERESY in 1633. You tell an untruth. As traditionalists you have a duty to tell the truth. You cannot defend tradition if you do not know the facts and these articles do not represent the traditional Catholic account of the Galileo case.
The article further states

'True Catholics, you must remember that the Newchurch of the New Order is not the Catholic Church. It is a political organization. Bergoglio has abandoned Catholicism to become Chief Politician of the Newvatican City State. The Marxist Newpope would rather "pontificate" on secular matters, over which he has absolutely no authority -- that is Catholic dogma. It was Venerable Caesare Cardinal Baronius who quite pointedly stated the correct Catholic principle: "The Bible teaches us how to go to Heaven, not how the heavens go."'

No it was not Cardinal Baronius who FIRST stated "The Bible teaches us how to go to Heaven, not how the heavens go."' This pro-Copernican exegesis quip was in fact invented by a Protestant, Georg Joachim Rheticus (1514-1574):

‘Before he left Varmia in 1541 [when Baroneous was 3-years-old] Rheticus had composed his own small tract to demonstrate the absence of conflict between heliocentrism and the Bible….He went on to make a distinction that is still part of the faith-science dialogue: In the Bible the Holy Spirit’s intention, declared Rheticus, is not to teach science but to impart spiritual truths “necessary for Salvation.” Moreover, whatever descriptions of nature that do appear in the Scriptures, they are “accommodated to the popular understanding.” --- Dennis Danielson: The First Copernican, Walker & Co., 2006, p.108.

“accommodated to the popular understanding?” Like ignorant geocentrists of their time for example? Putting errors of science into the Bible?

It is so sad to see a traditional group like yourselves quoting Protestant exegesis and hermeneutics and writing like modernists in this article. It was the U-turn on the true interpretation of Scripture that laid the foundation for modernism. I suggest, in Catholic charity, you inform yourselves as to what the Galileo case was really about and get rid of that modernist article on Galileo that led your Bergoglio article to accuse the Church of 1616 and 1633 of 'MEDDLING IN SCIENCE.'

I will assist your education if you wish.

To Which they replied:

It was so kind of you to write the Fathers and for being such an avid
reader of TRADITIO.  It is the dedication of you and over 24,000,000 other
readers that has made the TRADITIO Traditional Roman Catholic Network the
most read of all traditional Roman Catholic sites.  Thank you for reading
and publicizing the site, so that the traditional Roman Catholic message
can reach even more readers.

The purpose of the Ask the Fathers department is educational only, to
provide answers to persons who are sincerely seeking information about
traditional Roman Catholicism, not to engage in debate.  The Fathers have
to answer hundreds of scores of inquiries a day, as well as write their
Commentaries.  So, they have asked me to screen out those messages that
violate the protocols published in the "Ask the Fathers" department.

So, 24,000,000 Catholics being fed error and TRADITIO have more important things to do than correct their Modernist error.
So now you know, the Devil can get in anywhere.

  • Yes, this guy (aka "The Traditio Fathers" plural) makes a fool out of himself on every other issue.  He constantly blabbers about how the 1962 Tridentine Mass is HALF NOVUS ORDO.
