  • I completely agree with the OP.  Those qualities about this forum are PRECISELY why I continue to return to Cathinfo.

It is those very qualities about Cathinfo that I've always bragged about on my blog, and I point out the UTTER LACK of these practical guidelines in other cliquish forums.

Before some audiences not even the possession of the exactest knowledge will make it easy for what we say to produce conviction. For argument based on knowledge implies instruction, and there are people whom one cannot instruct.  - Aristotle

  • Matthew,

Is it established Cathinfo members who are asking for the banning of certain subjects?

I wonder if Fr. Wegner has friends on the forum with preferences for other topics ?
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

I imagine LOTS of priests and bishops lurk here, at the very least.

  • Thank you, Matthew.

"It is licit to resist a Sovereign Pontiff who is trying to destroy the Church. I say it is licit to resist him in not following his orders and in preventing the execution of his will. It is not licit to Judge him, to punish him, or to depose him, for these are acts proper to a superior."

  • My opinion - I personally have no interest in banning any particular topic.  However, what I cannot abide is when proponents of a particular topic accuse the opposition of being sinful, heretical, sacreligious, or the like.

This is manifesting itself, at the moment, most clearly by the proponents of a flat earth, who are essentially calling anyone who disagrees with them heretics.  This type of behavior should, in my opinion, not be tolerated.
I don't think that topics should be banned, but sometimes people should be for persistent obnoxious and inflammatory posts; a forum equivalent of verbal abuse, not just a heated argument.

We can talk about any topic under the Sun as long as we do conduct ourselves and ladies and gentlemen and that's what I like about this forum.

Blessed are the poor in spirit..  Can you think of anyone more spiritually impoverished?

    .
I would expect Fr Wegner is entirely satisfied when CI spins its wheels over the so-called flatness of the earth.
    .
That way all the less attention is paid to the latest news of the wayward Society.
    .
The less exposure the better, you see.
    .
And it provides grist for the rumour mill that all those opposed to the Fellayist agenda are simply nut cases.

  • And here is one of them proving my point.

To answer your question - yes.  However, you are not the arbiter of what the "Infallibly Defined Dogmas' [sic] of the Catholic Church" are, nor do you get to determine what is an impermissible "innovation."
    .
Is predictability of behavior an indicator of mental health?
