Happy anniversary, shaycd! Happy Feast of the Immaculate Conception!
Can you tell me how to pronounce the name of Fr. Libietis?
And do you know where he is these days? You were very fortunate to
have met him when you did.
In case you're into trivia, you may enjoy knowing that this, your 13th year,
should not be looked upon as in any way "unlucky." It seems to me that
the fear of the number 13 is something irrational or perhaps even sinister.
It was on Friday the 13th of July, 1917, that Our Lady came to the
shepherds in Fatima and gave them the Secret in 3 parts. Because of that,
they have all gone to eternal beatitude. No bad luck there.
When you take the 12 apostles, and consider that Our Lady was not one
of them, but her presence was essential: she was literally the 13th person.
All of the Fatima apparitions occurred on the 13th of the month, from
May to October (August was the 19th, but witnesses said that She had
come on the 13th only the children had been kidnapped.) Many people
worldwide consider the 13th of every month to be the "day of Fatima,"
even November through April. Fr. Malachi Martin was among them.
It seems to me that the number 13 and Friday have something to do with
the devil's greatest fear, of his head being crushed by the heel of the
Blessed Virgin Mary. And that explains why all the "superstition." So it's
nothing for us to worry about.
