  • Who cares? This idiot should keep it to himself. It is a matter for him, his future spouse, and God. I hate the idolatry that people have toward "professional" athletes.

  •   Virginity till marriage is a duty and obligation.
It is like vowing not to kill anybody or vowing not to steal.
That person has vowed not to commit fornication.
Vow is a promise that one makes under the pain of mortal sin.
It is like this:" I vow not to commit the mortal sin (of fornication) under the pain of mortal sin"

No, he shouldn't have. He did the smart thing. He is a public figure who is looked up to by so many people, including young people. The young are always influenced by their idols. By his advertising that he will remain a virgin, he gave a positive message to the youth and, hopefully, planted the belief in their heads that it is OK to be a virgin since even a big sports star and Heismann winner like him are remaining chaste until marriage. He's a positive role model.

  • Alex, as St. Gregory the Great once famously said, what are you smoking?

Another Protestant American makes a public vow of virginity, like Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, and other "role models."  They will never put a traditionalist Catholic virgin on TV because that would be an ACTUAL role model.

Here is how it always pans out with these corn-fed American Protestants:

"I'm a football star and girls are throwing themselves at me --

They won't always be throwing themselves at me --

    But what about God?

God will forgive me, because I have faith.

    C'mere, girls!"

A Protestant, not actually having the power against temptation that a Catholic corresponding to the movements in his soul of the Holy Spirit would have, is setting himself up for failure.  Even if he manages to make it to marriage as a virgin, chances are he will cheat throughout the marriage, or that the marriage will end in divorce.  And even if none of that happens, he's still a Protestant committing the worst sin possible against the Holy Spirit!  Great role model.  Again, this is a way "they" can associate morals with Luther's schismatic religion, which has none, leading people up the garden path, and away from true grace.

Disney, Land of Satan, especially loves to set up their Protestant-Jєωιѕн "stars" this way, as pure and virginal, and then suddenly you have leaked nude pictures ( Vanessa Hudgens ) and pictures in sex shops ( Jєωιѕн Zac Efron ) and dressed as a tramp Lolita ( Miley Cyrus ) and dating around months after telling everyone that they wore "purity rings" ( Jonas Bros. )

There is nothing positive about the Jєωιѕн-controlled American media or about these bread and circuses AKA sports.  Radtrad, why are you posting all these articles about Protestant "Christians"?  I don't get it.  Maybe I sound cynical, but when there is something to really be happy about, you will see me grinning a mile wide.

Forget this football star.  Where's the Great Monarch at?

In my anti-catholic country, virginity before marriage is a norm for women. 40 years ago, a woman could be killed if she was not so.

  • I am a gator and I talked to one of the people who worked for the football team. He told me that tim didn't actually announce it, the question was randomly asked of him during a press conference. It threw him off, as it was an extremely absurd question at the time. So it may never have been his intention to publically Declare it.

I leave that to his defense. Still a huge party school. Still has girls who dress very immodestly. Still worldly.

In regards to being a responsible man, would it be interesting to learn, after six years of accuмulating all the wisdom you could, that you had it right all alon

I care. He is constantly bombarded by questions that have no relevance to his ability to throw a football.  He is home schooled, speaks well of God, and is a virgin.  Please pick which one of those three is a bad thing.

How is he an idiot?  The personal insults that people throw around on this board really are hypocritical of those who profess to be Catholics.

What are you talking about? Because other protestants have not lived up to their "public vows of chastity" then we should look down on this one?  That is not logical.

The media only portrays traditional Catholics as loons.. so what.  Get over it.  Take it as persecution and offer it up.  I was trying to post a nice article about a man that has vowed to save himself for his wife.  What is wrong with that?  sheesh!

You complain that some people are over-generalizing about chastity vows, but then you make generalizations about this board, based on a thread with a participation of 6 people (including yourself).

I know this board doesn't have thousands of members, but it certainly has a lot more regular participants than 6!

  • The protestants are in darkness, more or less. Some of them who are of good will might try to make public vows of chastity, etc. but without the grace of the Truth Faith and Sacraments they will usually fail.

The Jєωs -- who own the media -- know this. That is why they give publicity to these famous protestants -- it helps their cause in the long run. After watching Britney Spears (and countless others) fall, after seeming to be so innocent, one is led to conclude that "it's impossible to stay pure".

See, at that point it's "mission accomplished" for the evil Jєωs who run the media and the world.

Remember, the Jєωs know human nature like no others. They were given this gift, because they were meant to be Apostles. (Note: God doesn't take back his gifts). They can see a fall coming a mile away. They read people like open books.

God is currently using the apostate Jєωs as a scourge for the apostate gentiles. How wise and how just God is! Blessed be His Holy Name.

  • Sounds like he was just answering a question, not making a vow.

    A laudable statement.

We should recognize, however, that all celebrities, even football stars, are celebrities at the pleasure of our media controlled by anti-Christians.

Therefore we should consider the possibility that there is something in every sort of story like this that they see as being a mockery of Christianity.  In this case, the way in which everyone is "shocked" by it.

Sort of the way that people were allowed to be "shocked" by Mel Gibson's movie - "shocked" by the Passion story in the Gospels, when ostensibly a very large percentage of this country are Christians.

The "celebrity culture" in this country is something that should be avoided.  The celebrities themselves are victims of their status.  Consider Mel Gibson.

That is it exactly, except Britney Spears never seemed to be innocent.  Obviously you have never seen one of her early shows!

The trick was that she claimed to be a virgin -- or her psychotic, evil handlers claimed it for her, among whom are included HER PARENTS, who are Protestants -- while dressing like a Vegas hooker.  The subliminal message being sent to girls, and to their mothers, was that sexy outfits are all in good fun, as long as we stay pure!  MOM, can I wear these thigh-high boots?  Don't be so uptight, all the other girls at school are doing it!  Well, okay, honey, I don't want to be a spoilsport... You know what happens next.

Seriously, the way I've seen young girls dressing around here is so appalling that when I read threads on CathInfo about the inappropriateness of pants on women, I just think "I WISH I had some pairs of pants to hand out."  Communist plot or not... Sheesh.

Looking for anything positive in the media is like being a Novus Ordo Catholic stretching your mind into a pretzel in order to find anything "orthodox" in your priest's sermon.  "Wait -- did he just say he was against abortion?  See, he must be a Catholic!"  ( Or what if he wants that child to be raised in Novus Ordo and thus fodder for Satan? That is why this is the one area where Ratzinger agrees with traditionalists, because he knows in today's climate that most kids have no chance ).

I am not dark and cynical, but this is the world that I am living in.  And until people see the truth, or Christ comes back, this madness will go on and on and on.

As for this Tim Tebow guy, he's just another sports star, and sports are dumb.  If "Tim Tebow" was a Mormon and was going to stay "pure" until his marriage, knowing that that may be the first of several "marriages," would you find this laudable?

To take an example that WOULD be positive, what if one of these Disney stars I talked about, though far from a virgin, became a traditional Catholic and began to talk about the mind-control practiced on them at Disney?  Now that would be positive.
