  • Okay, so the man is an average football player by NFL standards and probably gets too much attention, but this past week was interesting. I'm not an NFL fan, mostly due to the fact that they play primarily on Sunday and steal glory from God, but I think the Tebow phenomenon is interesting.

Tim Tebow was the center of a small controversy this past week after it became known that he was scheduled to speak at First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.

The pastor there, Robert Jeffress, has spoken out about evils of ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity in the past and that made many in the media pressure Tebow into backing out of the engagement. Tebow cancelled his participation in the event.

But what no one mentioned was that Mr. Jeffress is an anti-Catholic and has called the Catholic Church "Satanic".

Is Tebow okay this? My guess is that he is no friend of Catholicism, as his father's life's work is "converting" The Philippines to Christianity although it is a profoundly Catholic country already.

Who do Traditional Catholic children have as sports heroes now? Do trad kids like sports as much as the rest of the country's youth?

  • I wish Tim Tebow was a traditional Catholic because he seems to take his religion seriously, even though it is a false one. I also wish he was a better football player. He isn't very good.

  • I don't watch sports, sitting on the couch, with a bag of chips and health issues

I play sports, and try to stay active. :smirk:

Yes! Playing sports and not (just) watching them is what I like to do too! Wrestling, weightlifting and baseball are my favorites. My brothers and dad and I used to play basketball in the driveway every night after dinner growing up. Little brother and dad versus big brother and I, while mom kept score...what great memories.

When I was in high school I liked to play football, basketball, and baseball with my friends. When I typed up the last message I just came back from running three miles and shooting some hoops.

Of course one must not only have a healthy body, but a healthy mind as well, and I don't mean intellectually either, I mean a spirutully healthy mind in that we must cleanse ourselves from the rotten values of Hollywood.

Mr. Tebow is a Protestant.  By definition, all Protestants are anti-Catholic.  The fact that many Protestants are not anti-Conciliar Catholic should tell you something about the Conciliar church.

I have lived in rural areas dominated by fundamentalist protestants my entire life.  I can assure you that Tebow's brand of religion is no friend of Catholicism.

Yes--the "mission" trips keep me pissed off all the time.  Heretics love taking mission trips to places like the Philippines, Latin America, Puerto Rico, Greece, etc., and "preaching the Gospel to people who have NEVER heard it."

Tebow is just another heretic whose brand of religion was borne out of the tiny minds of uneducated inbred preachers, who preached sola scriptura, who ironically weren't even literate enough to read the Bible.

Now, what are your opinions on Sola Scriptura boyQB?

  • Tim Tebow, in spite of being a Protestant, seems to genuinely love God. It is because of this that the media dislikes him. It shows how unChristian our society is when sports players who commit crimes and cheat can be given a second chance, but someone who openly displays their love for God is not given even one chance. I do think we should pray for his conversion to the True Faith, of course.

If he cancelled his talk at that church just because he was pressured by the pro-gαys to do it, however, that is not being a good Christian.
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

Well obviously one must follow Church teachings as well. Of course I believe the Catholic Faith is the correct Faith, and Protestantism isn't.

I would say Manny Paquiao but he broke his mother's heart and became a protestant, and not coincidently got knocked in his next fight.

the Mexican, Juan Manuel Marquez, who beat paquia is also a devout catholic father but he doesn't speak English and is near the end of his career.

But we may have a new up and coming candidate to fit the bill.

A short article on him here. He could be the next heavyweight champion.

    http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/catholiclife/2011/07/28/british-champion-faith-matters-more-than-boxing/

Tyson Fury, the new British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion, has said that his Catholic faith is more important to him than boxing.

Speaking before he won the title last Saturday the 23-year-old Mancunian said he was praying for his opponent Dereck Chisora.

He said: “There’s going to be fierce talk before the fight but I don’t wish Chisora dead or anything like that. This is sport. I will hold no grudges after the fight. I pray that he comes to the fight first of all, that it’s a good fight, and I win. I also pray that he is okay after it.

“I try to do everything by the Bible,” he said. “I’ve read testaments in church and I pray a lot. It’s the most important thing to me, more important than boxing.

“I would rather be knocked out 10 times by DC than not go to heaven. I’m God-fearing,” he said.

Tyson Fury was born in Wythenshawe, Manchester. His Irish father and English mother named their newborn son after the heavyweight world boxing champion Mike Tyson. His father’s Traveller family have a long-standing attachment to boxing and bare-knuckle boxing.

All the original Protestants were Catholic who thought they knew better than the Church. Today's generation of Protestants are people from all walks of life. The idea that all Protestants are anti-Catholic is silly. Most Protestants don't even know the history of Protestantism and many look at the Catholic Church as just another Christian denomination. Yes, there are anti-Catholic groups, but most are anti-Catholic out of ignorance and misinformation, not malice.

I think Tebow is a great guy!--He-s not afraid of speaking about or defending his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If he loved Christ he would be in Christ's Church and be Catholic. I understand his father to be anti Catholic. He has been exposed to the Truth, but rejects it it appears. While his natural morality is laudable, his protestantism is not. Don't be seduced.
