  • Can anyone suggest an on line explanation of the rosary without the Luminous Mysteries?
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

Great little booklet in PDF format prints on 1 A4 page.
I actually printed out and laminated several copies to give away.

Seriously?  Down-thumbing a post that recommends St Louis de Montfort?  Grow up.

  • Actually.  I think you are being too kind.  I expect this particular down thumbing was personal.

  • The Rosary is very powerful.
It came as Vision, inspiration to St Dominic.

Originally it was 150 prayers, these prayers were said to counter the Anti Christ prayers of the Jєωs and their 150 Psalms.

Through the years, the Rosary was changed.
Some say the reason for doing this was sinister....

  • The St. Louis de Montfort book is a little too mystical for a beginner and I think it would probably hamper their development.  It might even frighten them away.  Worse yet, if they are not ready spiritually for the pure gold of St. Louis de Montfort's book - it may completely spiritually ruin them.  Sometimes people will gain some knowledge but not have the maturity or the wisdom to undertake such a mystical book.

Sigismund, why not just make your own little pamphlet up - you know the prayers and the mysteries, so you could print it in a format and font that is pleasing to the eye and you could give instructions to whoever it is you are making this for.  Even pray the rosary with the recipient of your good work a couple times to help them get the hang of it.

Tell them one thing though and that is that the rosary is a lifelong journey so they should undertake it with patience and sooner than they think they will develop a love for it.

Another tidbit, have them start out by just praying one decade for any intention they desire and, as they grow spiritually, or at least become more aware, then they could be encouraged to do a second decade daily.

I found this in my room. It was published sometime before the so-called "Luminous Mysteries" were introduced.
