Being three-quarters Irish (me family comes from County Cavan), I am always happy when St Patrick's Day comes around! It is such a great opportunity to share our Faith in a positive way. Of course, it is upsetting that people denigrate the feast and just think about drinking. (SAD!)
I thought about something today... How come with St Valentine's Day, people say "Happy Valentine's Day!" and leave out the St, but with St Patrick's Day, they leave it in? You don't hear anyone saying, "Happy Patrick's Day!"
Also, St Valentine was a priest-martyr... where did flowers and chocolate and love notes come from?
And for St Patrick's, why not give shamrocks and think about St Patrick and the Faith? Why green beer, and drinking to excess!?!
Anyhoo, just random thoughts. Happy St Patrick's Day to you, CathInfo Family!
Love,
+michaela b.
PS on my calendar the feast is moved to Monday because of Passion Sunday.
PPS some good Irish bands are the Chieftains and the Dubliners. Songs... Rocky Road to Dublin, Wind That Shakes The Barley, The Foggy Dew, Danny Boy, etc
