  • Pentecost occurred ten days after the ascension, and this is one of the reasons of the ten Hail Mary's in each mysteries of the Rosary. Also since it took one day's walk for the disciples to return to Jerusalem, there were only nine days left before Pentecost. During those said nine days the disciples, surrounding Mary, by then the mother of St. John and our Mother, prayed unceasingly until the coming of the Holy Ghost. This incidentally was the very first novena of Christianity.
Pentecost is one of the greatest moment of Christianity, it was the descent of the Holy Ghost upon the converted Jєωs, with the Blessed Virgin Mary, a daughter of Abraham, standing in the middle. The Blessed Virgin Mary did not need to receive the Holy Ghost, since she was already the daughter; the mother, and the spouse of the Holy Trinity (according to the ascetics works of St. Alfonso of Ligory), but her very presence was essential in order to prove that the event was truly due to the coming of the Paraclete, just as it had been during the day of Pentecost.
The entire Christianity, even the heretics celebrate Pentecost. Many heresies have started from Pentecost because it was for the Jєωs, while the Gentiles appear to have not been a part of it. The Gentiles might have attributed too much importance to an event that seem to have excluded the non-Jєωs, and as a consequence may have brooded on it, which explains the existence of many heresies. This is the subject of this posting:

There is also a "second Pentecost" (my word), which is also described by St.Luke in the Acts of the Apostles.
The story of this second Pentecost is directly addressed to the Gentiles. It is a complicated plot, for there are two separate parties, one is Cornelius, and the other is St. Peter. There are visions, and ecstasy's of spirit, etc. involved. Then Cornelius and Peter finally meet. This at this moment that the Holy Ghost descend upon the disciples (who were all Gentiles) with St Peter standing in the middle. The presence of St Peter was similar to the one of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Jerusalem, because Peter did not need to receive the Holy Ghost since he had received Him already in Jerusalem. His presence was essential as a proof that this "second Pentecost", as I name it, was genuinely from the Paraclete.
This "second Pentecost", of the Gentiles, described has been similar to the previous one for the Jєωs, if better acknowledged would put an end to many heresies, and would give a new strenght to the Roman Catholic Church, which Church, of Saint Peter has the Blessed Virgin Mary for mother.

This formidable event involving both Cornelius and St Peter, that opened salvation to the rest of the world, is often overlooked for one reason, which I think is the literary understatement of one lone chapter of the Act of the Apostle. Do you have comments about this suggestion?

  • It is surprising that this posting on a "second pentecost" does not stirr-up interest. It could be a subject of discussion in a seminary.

I wish to have some feed-back for the simple reason that I wonder why the coming of the Holy Ghost upon Cornelius and his companions, with St. Peter present in the middle, is not talked about in Catechism. I found-out the existance of this "second petecost" just a few days ago while reading the Acts of the Apostles.

Is this blog a Catholic blog, or a platform for political rant?

     :roll-laugh1:

However, I will read that passage in the Gospel of St. Luke later on today.

  • My definition of the term "second pentecost", is simply that in the Act of the Apostles (written by St Luke) Cornelius and companions received the Holy Ghost IN THE SAME MANNER as during the Pentecost that occured in Jerusalem, and that we all celebrate 50 days after Easter.

This descent of the Holy Ghost was upon the Gentiles (Cornelius, a Roman centurion was of the "Italian band"). Since it was a repeat of what had happened in Jerusalem, and it was the second time, I call it "2nd pentecost". Do not fear that I wish to start a new religion. This term of second pentecost is given in order to distinguish it from what had happened in Jerusalem when apparently all the disciple (about 120) were Jєωs.

I think that it is important to see the distinction between those two descents of the Holy Ghost, because one was upon Jєω, while the other upon the Gentiles. The many heresies, such as the modern Pentacostals might be countered if this passage of the Acts is hardly talked about.

  • To Capt McQuigg: My apologies for the confusion. The passage is on the Act of the Apostles. I mentioned St. Luke, because he is the author of the Acts (of the Apostles)

About "conspiracy theories". I have a ton to write about! I must say that I am surprised to have so much rebukes. I'll keep on posting on that conspiracy stuff. I believe that time is near when there will be martial law, and we won't be able to post anything.

  • Sigh. More nonsense.

First, the day we celebrate as Pentecost had NOTHING to do with Jєωs. Our Lord, Our Lady, the Apostles and every other person who believed and practiced the same faith as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were ISRAELITES, not "Jєωs". Judaism is a separate religion with origins about 200 years before Our Lord. Judaism is a FALSE religion filled with superstition and ceremonies that are blasphemous and completely powerless to effect any change in the practitioners' spiritual state.

When our Lord greeted Phillip, He said, "Here is an ISRAELITE indeed, in whom there is no guile."[/color]

Notice He did not say "here is a Jєω" indeed. BIG difference.

"Jєω" and "Jєωιѕн" are terms that are bastardized from Yahud and Yahudi, which are Hebrew words for "Judea" and "Judean", which themselves are words describing the people and places associated with the tribe of Judah. Our Lord, in the flesh, was a son of the tribe of Judah.

We know that Christ Our Lord instituted the New Law, of course, and it is because His followers began to be called Christians that we see the pejorative term "Judaizer" used in reference to those who wrongly believed that Messiah would teach His followers to obey the Old Law literally and not in its fulfilled way, i.e. in obedience to His Church.

There is no such thing as a "second Pentecost". Pentecost is the Greek term for the Hebrew Israelite festival called "Shavuot" or In-gathering. 50 days (Pentecost means "count fifty") after the feast of First Fruits (which is when Our Lord resurrected from the dead), the seasonal harvest was due to come in, and Almighty God used those times and seasons of the earth to prophesy about what would happen to mankind by God's gracious actions. Fifty days after Christ was offered to God as the firstfruits of His people (and in their place), the wider harvest of souls began.

If there is anything significant about the act of the Holy Ghost's descent upon the Gentile people, it is that St. Peter went and spoke to them about Our Lord willingly and boldly. The holy Apostle then challenged those around him not to forbid these men baptism. It is clear from the text of Holy Scripture (and from history) that God's plan was to redeem mankind and thus make the way to salvation available to ANYONE who humbles themselves and submits to His Authority in His Church.

Jack, you've received many rebukes because much of what you have written has been subjective, protestant-style nonsense that has, at times, bordered on the heretical.

Why not, instead of posting conspiracy theories and cloak-and-dagger baloney, start reading, posting and commenting on the things which have been dogmatically defined by Holy Church as necessary for our belief in order that we might be saved?

How about getting really passionate about what Christ has revealed and Holy Church has taught and explained, instead of these posts that are sort of like those oil-slicks. You know, in which people thought they saw miraculous images. If you twist and turn and reach and strain and stay credulous, then, SURE, these things look like they MIGHT make sense.

Please... for the sake of your own soul and for the good of the souls on here who are trying to work out their salvation, let's use this bandwidth for the Catholic Faith and not for fairy-tales, secret missions or doubtful "visions" and "messages".
This evil of heresy spreads itself. The doctrines of godliness are overturned; the rules of the Church are in confusion; the ambition of the unprincipled seizes upon places of authority; and the chief seat [the Papacy] is now openly proposed as a rewar
