  • Have you guys noticed that the last month or so there has beena rise in crazies joining this forum?

Either, there is a mental hospital ggiving Internet access to its patients, or, there was a big escape from a large mental hospital.

Perhaps it's something new in the water or air?

Who's the biggest nut, in everybodies opinion?

I think it's that "notforgotten" guy. He's crazy.

  • I don't think it's helpful to be calling people nutjobs.

It reminds me of ggreg (I think it was him) calling certain traditional Catholics "nutters".

You're probably right. I called notfogotten a nut job on his own thread, but I was getting very frustrated not being able to get through to him. I think that particular post may in fact have penetrated; he actually responded to what I said instead of posting a Bible quote.
"Let us thank God for having called us to His holy faith. It is a great gift, and the number of those who thank God for it is small."

  • Wasn't trying to be uncharitable. There has been a spike of questionable posts. Maybe nutjob was too severe. Although, I don't believe in being politically correct.

  • I think there have always been weird posters at cathinfo, like that guy who claimed to be pope Augustine. I haven't noticed a rise in the number of weird posters. I think we just have the normal number of weird posters like cathinfo has always had.

Where else would people who claim to have revelations from God go to talk about it?

Perhaps we could reserve "nutjob" for people who claim to be pope and aren't.  For the Sede's of course, that would include the current man in white in the Vatican if he started posting here.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  •  :jester:------Sometimes you feel like a nut!

     ------Sometimes you don't!
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • Please have some charity for those of us who are new around here.  A lot of us haven't been raised properly, but the fact that we've found our way to this forum, says something about our corrected direction.  That said, I have seen some questionable posts on here since I joined.  Undoubtedly, I made some questionable posts myself in the beginning, but I've stuck around and have not posted as frequently as I did in the at first.  Reading more now.  It's important to remember that there has been a campaign against Truth, waged against the minds of all who are not connected with Tradition, for the past 60 years or so.  Confused individuals will find there way here, and they should not be turned around to go back into the dark.  Reprimand them.  Admonish them.  But please don't send them away.  The uptick might be evidence that things are speeding up now.  People who always thought that there would be time, are starting to realize that it's running out.

Don't sell yourself short. In fact, your terminology is, if anything, rather too polite. I'd love to see Matthew declare a lockdown on all those who average 5.0 posts a day or more until their average falls below that figure. Anyone aside from Matthew himself (it's his site, after all) who posts that often has far too much free time on his hands and little to no sense of how to make good use of it.

Think about it for a moment: how many threads are genuinely informative or genuinely enlightening? This site's average is far, far higher than the norm, irrespective of category, but the daily average here seldom if ever breaks the two-figure percentage ceiling, especially now that SSPX-related issues have been largely back-burnered and reduced to a simmer.

[I am well braced, by the way, for the storm of down-turned thumbs to follow.]

    This is important.

I am a convert to the Faith myself, and would have said all sorts of stupid things had I *started* here at Cathinfo and gotten my face melted off.

Only fire torpedoes at those that are *obdurate* and refuse correction.

For anyone who accepts your correction, you should do so gently and patiently (and explain(!) it, that is, catechize them...), until they don't, or until they start proselytizing nonsense even when theyve been corrected, then torpedoes away.

As our new member Ryan points out (as do I) many people have never heard the Truth you take for granted! Even, or perhaps especially, nominal Catholics!
