  • Hey, let's break the ice a little (so Raoul doesn't completely snap).  My name is Matthew Snyder and I live in Indiana.  Married with four children, 6, 4, 2, 7 mos.

I enjoy studying philosophy and theology.  I reverted to the Faith by the mercy of God when I was about 23.  I turn 34 today.  After my reconversion, I read day and night.  At about 25, after reading many encyclicals and works of theology, I began to see the incongruity of the N.O. with tradition as well as the similarity of modern opinions with what had been condemned in the past.  I saw a vast contradiction between the spirit of sanctity, piety and wisdom that imbued or should imbue Catholicism and that which pervaded the modern Church, which was the spirit of the world.

Aside from that I love puppies, long walks in the park and sipping hot cocoa in front of a fire place.

  • Congratulations on your response to the Graces you received during this critical time of your life.

Many there are who ignore them to their spiritual peril and the peril of those whom they may influence.

To have access to the TLM and Sacraments and Priests and make use of Them during these times is a Great Grace indeed.

What a Great time in which to live. Many Saints will come out of this era.

May all of us have the Grace of "final perserverance".

    God Bless

    Bruno

  • One of my greatest faults is anger with an aggressive disposition.  Thus all throughout my life I was in fighting sports.  When I was in law enforcement, I would enjoy physical altercations.  In a different context, a warlike nature is good and necessary, but I do not find myself in such a context so it is unfitting.

Since I've turned my attention to the study and practice of the interior life, I have been trying to mortify this passion completely.  Now the one thing that moves this passion vehemently is when I observe an injustice, thus my words tend to reflect this.

You can hardly tell anything at all about a person by words on a screen, unless they express their dispositions well through writing.

When I spoke to Elizabeth or Matthew for example, the impression of speaking with the person who you only knew through notes on a screen was pretty drastic.  All of their good qualities come into full relief -- they are real people.  This observation sounds simplistic and trite, but it is true.  This is a very impersonal, almost anti-personal form of communication.  The written word, especially quick notes on a message board is meant to be provisional for lack of contact with real people.  It is an artificial supply for a defect of ontological interaction.  But when the conversation is an endless string of messages with never any contact seems to be detrimental more often than not.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY Matthew!

There used to be a birthday cake emoticon on some forum I've used, but of course it isn't here when I need it.

This will have to do...  :alcohol:

    Your family is beautiful!!

I've enjoyed being your compatriot through the FE days and now on Cath Info.

May you enjoy many more years!

  • He looks gentle?!  He is handsome, but look at the eyes.  They're straight up conniving.  Of course it's just one pic, but  I can easily see the Caminus I know in this picture.

His painting also is strange -- a black woman in profile?  What are you, Gauguin?  But when all else fails, bring out the cute kids.  As if that has any relevance.

Am I supposed to put up a picture of myself now so we can compare looks?  What if I look like an angel?  Does that mean I win?  I will admit, I had help from a plastic surgeon.  But the eyes may tell a different story entirely...  And those are from God.

I am disturbed your birthday is so close to mine.  You are exactly a week younger than me.  My birthday was on July 17, 1976 and I also just turned 34.  Wow!  Imagine having four kids!

Anyway, what a dumb post.  Just lowers my respect for you from nonexistent to somewhere beneath that.  You are fishing for sympathy, as if having a nice family makes your behavior any less reprehensible.  Crooks have families too.

Then you should launch yourself at the mirror and arrest the perp within it.

  • Raoul,

Come on. Why don't you bury the hatchet?

Save your true ire for the libs and Neo-Caths who are dominating the Church right now.

  • There is something wrong with this man.  His posts are intolerably full of insults and rage.  It scares me to think of him as a cop.

Now he is flaunting pictures of kids to win sympathy.  Guess what, Snyder?  Steven Spielberg does the same thing.  HE'S STILL EVIL.
