A little change of subject. Found this very interesting - from YouTube
.
Thank you, Merry, for posting that!
.
In Austria the Radetzky March is sometimes used for an ENCORE at concerts, and everyone loves it, especially the musicians.
.
It has deep roots in national patriotism, which is here augmented by the drummer strokes, precise movements and stark discipline.
.
For each minute you see performed they had to drill for many hours.
.
EVERYONE begins their step-offs and changes instantaneously.
Very impressive display.
.
Seeing the goose-stepping in dress white trousers is a sight to behold. You'll NEVER see the USMC do this!
.
Until you try it it's impossible to know how difficult it is to goose-step while playing an instrument.
.
For those who know tempos, they were marching at Andante, mid-range, at metronome = 92.
.
One rider actually got his horse to keep in step. Now
that's an achievement!
.
I find their use of WWI/WWII ceremonial rifles and traditional swords edifying.
.
It wouldn't have the same feel if the infantry carried AK47s or Uzis.
.
And bazookas, tanks and missiles would be ridiculous.
.
If any members here who know Spanish could translate a few lines of the announcer's words that would be great!
