  • Every time we get closer to the release date, they push it back a month.  I'm beginning to wonder whether this film even exists.

  • Usually, delaying a movie means there's problems with post-production. (e.g. editing, reshoots, VFX)

A month before release, however? I would join you in doubting this movie's existence.

  • Ok, some of you are being ridiculous. You are exaggerating.

    Here are the facts:

    1. It was originally supposed to come out in September 2014. That was the first release date announced. I defy any of you to prove otherwise. They've been TALKING ABOUT IT for months, which is standard practice for all producers with any major movie. It's called building demand, creating "buzz", or hyping the movie.
But that doesn't mean they've been delaying the release again and again! You're just anxious to see it, that's all, and I feel your pain. Also, you might have misunderstood the original release date.

    2. They apparently moved the release date ONCE to October 24, 2014. It will be shown in Chicago, and, based on its reception there, it will be shown in other theaters after that.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 25, 2014

Rocky Mountain Pictures , the distributor behind such ground-breaking docuмentaries as Obama 2016 and Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, has picked-up the North American theatrical distribution rights for The Principle, the much-anticipated feature docuмentary which explores the significance of the Earth’s place within the Cosmos. The film is set to open in Chicago, on October 24.

Destined to become one of the most controversial films of our time, The Principle brings before the public eye surprising results from recent large-scale surveys of our universe – surveys which disclose unexpected evidence of a preferred direction in the cosmos, aligned with our supposedly insignificant Earth.

The Principle features narration by Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek Voyager, Orange Is The New Black and Ryan’s Hope), visual animations by BUF Compagnie Paris (Life of Pi, Thor, The Matrix: Revolutions, Van Helsing, Harry Potter), and commentary from prominent scientists including George Ellis, Michio Kaku, Julian Barbour, Lawrence Krauss, and Max Tegmark.

Tracing the development of cosmology from its inception (Stonehenge, the Great Pyramid at Giza), through the great revolution of Copernicus, to the astonishing new discoveries of Earth-oriented alignments in the largest structures of our observable universe, The Principle leads us face-to-face with the question, and the challenge – are we significant within the structure of the Universe, and, if so, why and finally, what does this mean for the future of mankind?

“The question of our place in the cosmos is the greatest scientific detective story in all of the history,” states Rick DeLano, the writer/producer of The Principle. “The world has been shaped by two great assertions – one places us in the center of it all and the other one relagtes us to utter insignificance. Amazingly, The Principle is the first docuмentary to examine this persistent puzzle at the heart of modern science.”

“The Principle is important picture that presents some compelling evidence about our planet and our place in our universe,” said Randy Slaughter and Ron Rodgers, partners of Rocky Mountain Pictures. “As with Obama 2016 and Expelled, we are enthused about bringing a movie to the marketplace that will get people to rethink their preconceived notions about things and have the potential to make an impact on the culture. We are very excited to be working with Rick DeLano and his team on The Principle and we believe that the docuмentary will have an impact on audiences everywhere.”

The Principle opens October 24 at the Marcus Addison Cinema (1555 West Lake Street) in Addison, IL, with a scheduled national expansion to follow.

The film was written and produced by Rick DeLano through his Stellar Motion Pictures, LLC and was directed by Katheryne Ktee Thomas of In Ohm Entertainment. Executive Producer is Robert Sungenis. The media marketing campaign is being spearheaded by Bob Angelotti of Angelcom Media Group, Inc

  • I'm actually really looking forward to it ... which is why I'm so annoyed.  Until recently the open date was supposed to be September 26.  So I went to check and now see October 24.  By mid-October I fully expect to see a December release date.

You mean we have to rely on dolts from Chicago liking the film to have a chance to see it elsewhere?

Maybe we'll get to get it on DVD.

  • I'm pretty sure I recall that even before the September release date there had been one for July.

...but...you probably can't substantiate that with any links, screenshots, docuмentation, or anything resembling proof. It's probably your emotions (in this case, frustration, anticipation, etc.) Remember, we guys have emotions too.

There's an old CI thread from earlier this year which announced the original release date. Why not find it?

I'll help you. It's at the bottom of page one:

  • Here's a quote I found:

    Quote
"Yes... we do [have a release date]. We could announce it tomorrow, but please be patient. We have a number of options before us now, and we want to be sure to select the one that gives us the best chance to achieve the widest possible distribution of "The Principle".

    Thanks for your interest!"

    -- Rick DeLano, April 29th, 2014

So apparently there was no release date as of April 29th, 2014.

Considering that most people thought it would be released in September, it's likely that September was the FIRST RELEASE DATE for the film.

The "current" release date is October 24, 2014. A whopping ONE MONTH late. Boo freaking hoo!

I know what virtue some of us need to work on...

It starts with a P and ends with ATIENCE!

Take a chill pill, Matthew, and get a grip.

No, the issue is with the repeated pushbacks.  And the October 24th date is JUST ONE THEATER; I don't consider that a "release date" by any stretch.  When will it actually go beyond the one theater in Chicago?  Next summer?  Ever?  They should just go direct to DVD with it.

I'll admit I beat that dead horse a bit hard. Sorry about that.

But it's not true they they have been release-date hopping. To say otherwise is simply not accurate or consonant with reality.

Perhaps they are using some tricks to avoid actual moving of a date (e.g., not giving a release date at all for quite a while). I'll grant you that.

Go to their website (http://www.theprinciplemovie.com/).  At the end of the official trailer, which they have failed to update since whenever they first made it, it still says "Coming Spring 2014".  No, not an official release date per se I guess, but perhaps you can see where the perception is coming from.  Then I recall something about Summer (June / July).  Then in late May they announced the September 19 date.  Now it's October 24, and that's only in one theater.  It's just starting feel like dangling a carrot in front of the horse.  Perhaps they just can't find a decent distributor.  Perhaps they were slowed down when Kaku raised a stink (pun intended) ... along with Mulgrew.  At some point, then, you just have to call it a day and go directly to DVD.

  • Mrs. Sharpe has a new interview of Robert Sungenis posted on the ISOC website which will be available through 15 October:

    http://www.isoc.ws/

The title of the talk is:  "Fatima, The Principle, and How to Change the World".

I've just downloaded it and will listen to it, but, perhaps, he will discuss the film and when and where it will be released.
