  • I notice that maybe the moon since the beginnings of creation has been a sign from God all along concerning His divine plan. When the moon is full, it can remind one of the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ under the appearance of a host. Also, the fact that the moon can be new or full seems symbolic of the two natures (divine and human) of Christ as well as the appearance of a consecrated host when the moon is full and the invisible presence of our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament when the moon is new. All along before the coming of Christ, it seems as if God had made the moon, besides governing the night, also to be a sign of what He would accomplish in our Lord Jesus Christ.   :incense:

  • That's interesting.

Of course, like the sun, the moon was often worshipped by pagan cultures.

Both are quite impressive, and probably had an allegorical purpose like you described -- to remind us of God, the Blessed Mother, etc.

Just like the beauty of nature in general is there to remind us of God's own beauty, power, intelligence...

  • I've heard the moon described like the Virgin Mary.  She has no light of her own, but she is bright with Christ's "light".

    What she's standing on Kepha?:
