Mark79, do you know how Hoffman is able to square this perception of popes having an "occult rapport" with Jєωs for the past 500 years with the Church being the true religion? I'm curious to know how he's able to keep faith in the Church.

I think that, for Michael Hoffman to call this "reflection" "a docuмent ... which teaches" is a little less than honest. One sees from the start that it is no such thing. I haven't read either his article or the docuмent. I may get around to one or other or both, if I get the time.

Is it a docuмent? Yes.
Does it teach? Yes.

From a Catholic perspective: (1) it does not have the character of Extraordinary Magisterium and (2) it does not have the character of Ordinary Magisterium.

Nonetheless, it is a docuмent and it teaches (heterodoxy).

It is the docuмent, not Hoffman, that is dishonest.

that God recognizes the old covenant is still valid and cheats the

Exactly. This whole thing is getting me so mad. I have a Novus Ordite Drunk-with-the Vatican II Kool Aid Catholic telling me that when I explain that the Church has always taught that the Jєωs are no longer the Chosen People and that this docuмent blatantly contradicts that teaching that this is "theological anti-Semitism".

To add to this thread is the Robert Sungenis talk on ICOS on the Jєωs,

He agrees with the traditional teachings of the Church attitude to
today's Jєωs and the State of Israel.
