Orthodox Jєωs charged with child sex abuse in Brooklyn (New York) should have their identities protected because of the community’s “tight-knit and insular” nature, prosecutors claim in a remarkable response to demands for information about the cases.

Rejecting a Forward request under the state’s Freedom of Information Law, the Brooklyn district attorney made the startling claim that Orthodox Jєωs deserve a blanket exemption from the usual public disclosure rules. Prosecutors claimed that Orthodox Jєωs are “unique” in that releasing the names of suspects would allow others in the community to identify their victims.

“The circuмstances here are unique,” Assistant District Attorney Morgan Dennehy wrote in an April 16 letter to the Forward. “Because all of the requested defendant names relate to Hasidic men who are alleged to have committed sex crimes against Hasidic victims within a very tight-knit and insular Brooklyn community, there is a significant danger that the disclosure of the defendants’ names would lead members of that community to discern the identities of the victims.”

Although Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes has long resisted requests to identify Orthodox sex suspects, the letter is believed to represent the first time his office spelled out why it specifically singled them out for preferential treatment.

Dennehy cited the state’s civil rights laws in denying the Forward’s request for the names of 85 Orthodox Jєωs arrested on sex charges during the past three years. The Forward made its request in December 2011 after prosecutors announced that scores of Orthodox Jєωs had been charged under a special program designed to encourage the community to come forward with information.

He did not explain whether prosecutors had concluded that there was anything specific about each of the 85 suspects that might make it possible for others to determine the identity of their victim from the identity of the suspect.

He also did not explain whether such a blanket exemption might be granted to other similarly “tight-knit” communities in the borough. And there were no details about what criteria prosecutors would use to determine whether a particular group should be granted such preferential status.

Dennehy also claimed that revealing the names of abuse suspects could harm the operation of the DA’s special hotline, Kol Tzedek, or Voice of Justice, which was set up to three years ago to encourage Orthodox abuse victims to come forward. Disclosing suspects’ names could cause victims to lose faith in the hotline, which in turn would “interfere with law enforcement investigations or judicial proceedings,” he claimed.

Marci Hamilton, a law professor at Yeshiva University, said that prosecutors’ refusal to release the suspects’ names or other information about their alleged crimes amounts to “enabling” abusers.

“I think they are complicit in what enables these kinds of perpetrators in these kinds of communities if they are going… to refuse to publish names of any child sex predators,” Hamilton said. “When names of perpetrators are made public, their other victims are empowered to come forward and the whole community is given the power to identify and stop them and other predators.”

Hamilton added: “What the DA’s office is doing, unfortunately, is playing right into the hands of the abusers.”

Daniel Mullkoff, a legal fellow with the New York Civil Liberties Union, said there was no good reason to withhold the names of abuse suspects from the public. “In this case, the public has raised concerns about what the district attorney is doing,” he said. “Withholding of this information is without a legal basis and denies access to just the type of information that the public records law seeks to make public.”

In October 2009, Hynes office redacted the names of 26 Orthodox Jєωs on a list of those charged with sex crimes. A Freedom of Information Law request submitted by the Forward to see those names was refused.

When Hynes last year trumpeted the arrests of 85 Orthodox Jєωs on sex crimes charges since 2008, he again refused to release the suspects’ names. He cited the need to protect the identity of victims. Yet that same week, Hynes issued a press release publicizing the name of a non-Jєωιѕн man convicted of raping his girlfriend’s daughter. Hynes released the man’s name, the neighborhood where he lived and the victim’s age, enough information for any neighbor to identify the girl.

Hynes even refused to name 14 Orthodox people who were convicted of sex crimes, 10 of whom pleaded guilty. They were sentenced to between one month and 20 years in jail. Although some of those cases were covered in the media, several were adjudicated without public scrutiny.

At tractate Yebamoth 63a the Torah teaches that "Adam had intercourse with all the beasts and animals" in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately. I grew up in the Southern Baptist church and attended several other even more evangelical churches until I converted. I noticed the Judaizing from an early age. For instance, I do not have a Christian name. Few people in my church do. They are all Old Testament names. Friends I grew up were not Stephen and Andrew and Paul, they were David and Jacob and Job. There was a woman in my last church that wore a shield of David necklace all the time, and always tried to get people to start following OT law like dietary laws. Israel was always defended no matter what atrocities were committed by them.

What is sad is that Traditional Catholicism is TRUE Judaism, which was abandoned by the Jєωs long, long ago, at least as far back as the Babylonian exile, where they took up their captors' Baal worship.

What I ment is the Jєω with the revolutionary spirit, the type that
E.Michael Jones is talking about.

The names of the saints of the old law are Christian names as much as they are Jєωιѕн ones.  They are canonized saints and commemorated on the Eastern liturgical calendars.  It has never been the custom to commemorate their feast days in the west, but that does not make them any less saints of the Catholic Church.

That's true, and I don't mean to say the OT fathers were not saintly or there are no OT Saints (I know that Joshua son of Nun is actually a saint, so I guess I do have a Christian name), but my point is that it is very widespread practice in S. Baptist church to place the Old Testament even above the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They live in the OT- they think OT. The naming is just one example of that- I know very few S. Baptists with New Testament names. They seem to glorify the OT and place it first, in my opinion. That's what I've seen my entire life, anyways.

You are intended to have that misimpression because it serves the rabbis. There are at least 6 definitions of "Torah." See the excerpt on this matter from "Judaism 101" posted in the Library here:

Don’t get suckered into one of the oldest rabbinical tricks, the claim that the тαℓмυd is based on "Torah." A Christian assumes that "Torah" = Pentateuch, but there's the trick. In Judaism there are at least FIVE definitions of Torah. Here's the proof:

Please note a FIFTH definition of Torah according to the Holy Father's favorite rabbi, “a great scholar” [Benedict XVI, Jesus of Nazareth, p.71]:

“... The rabbi constituted the projection of the divine on earth. Honor was due him more than to the scroll of the Torah, for through his learning and logic he might alter the very content of Mosaic revelation. He was Torah [DEFINITION #5], not merely because he lived by it, but because at his best he constituted as compelling an embodiment of the heavenly model as did a Torah scroll itself.” [Rabbi Jacob Neusner, “The Phenomenon of the Rabbi in Late Antiquity: II The Ritual of 'Being a Rabbi' in Later Sasanian Babylonia,” Numen, Vol.17, Fasc. 1., Feb., 1970, pp.3-4]

A SIXTH definition is the scroll treated as a totem in the ѕуηαgσgυє.

It gets worse because these “Torah” are on an ever-widening trajectory from God. Consider explicit corollaries of the great scholar's presumption that, because the rabbis are divine, they can “alter the very content of Mosaic revelation.”

The occultic portion of the тαℓмυd, the Kabala, at Tikkunei Zohar 1:27b refers to the Mishnah of the тαℓмυd as “the burial place of Moses.” The reference is an apt double entendre because the тαℓмυd at Shabbat 15 teaches that it supersedes and nullifies the Old Testament, so “buries” the Pentateuch of Moses.  

“Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: There is one that accuseth you, Moses, in whom you trust. For if you did believe in Moses, you would perhaps believe me also; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” John 5:43-47

The "tradition of the Elders" actually "buries Moses" (Tikkunei Zohar 1:27b), disparages Moses (and Isaias), places Moses in the 18th row of тαℓмυd "sage" Rabbi Akiva like a dunce in the back of the class (Menachot 22b).

Since converts from Judaism revealed the foundational teachings of Judaism, much effort has been invested in sanitizing vernacular translations of the тαℓмυd.

These sanitized editions are useful to the rabbis: "See it's not there." Or "The tractate is about 'Balaam'"

In the sanitized тαℓмυd editions numerous code word substitutions are used for Christians (min, Cuthean, Egyptian, Epicurean, etc.) and Jesus of Nazareth ("that man," "the carpenter," "Balaam," "ben Pandera, a reference to the тαℓмυd's teaching that Jesus was the b-stard of a wh-re who committed adultery with a Roman soldier named Pandera, and even blank spaces).

The тαℓмυd (Torah SheBeal Peh) teaches that Jesus was a b-stard born of an adulterous relationship (Kallah 51a) of a wh-re (Sanhedrin 106a) and that He is now in Hell boiling in feces because he "worshipped a brick" and, sem-n because he is accused of sɛҳuąƖ perversion. (Gittin 57a).

The тαℓмυd Sanhedrin 43a boasts that the Sanhedrin convicted Jesus and, at the Jєωιѕн court's instigation, He was crucified, “hanged,” even though the Romans were “inclined toward acquittal” of Jesus; therefore Jєωιѕн denial and blame-shifting to the Romans is a lie. The infamous Toldoth Jeschu, Maimonides' Hilkoth Akun V, 3 and Letter to Yemen), and the 1905 Jєωιѕн Encyclopedia (page 170), all boast of Jєωιѕн responsibility for Christ's death. The тαℓмυd notes that Jesus deserved four more deaths. Sanhedrin 52a suggests Jesus should have been strangled while immersed in dung. Pursuing the anti-Biblical nature of Judaism and its тαℓмυd:

“On the surface, Scripture plays little role in the Mishanaic system, The Mishnah [of the тαℓмυd] rarely cites a verse of Scripture, refers to Scripture as an entity, links its own ideas to those of Scripture, or lays claim to originate in what Scripture has said, even by indirect or remote allusion to a Scriptural verse of teaching... Formally, redactionally, and linguistically the Mishnah stands in splendid isolation from Scripture....the Mishnah constitutes Torah. [definition #2 ‘Written Torah’] It too is a statement of revelation, 'Torah revealed to Moses at Sinai.' But this part of revelation has come down in a form different from the well-known, written part, the Scripture. This tradition truly deserves the name 'tradition,' because for a long time it was handed down orally, not in writing, until given the written formulation now before us in the Mishnah.... Since some of the named authorities in the chain of tradition appear throughout the materials of the Mishnah, the claim is that what these people say comes to them from Sinai through the processes of qabbalah and massoret --handing down 'traditioning.' Note the casual admission that both “qabbalah and massoret [the vaunted, but bowdlerized, ‘Hebrew Bible’]” change Scripture through “process,” “traditioning.” In Judaism tradition is not fixed or faithful, but is an ever-changing “process” that is described as “traditioning.” This is why “the latest Responsa and homiletical interpretations of the rabbis” are Torah, [definition #4] hence authoritative in Judaism.

Indeed all this oral “traditioning” is precisely what Jesus fingered as “make void the commandments of God for the traditions of men.” [Mark 7:9]. Since the rabbis are free to “alter even the very content of Mosaic revelation” with impunity, we begin to understand why Jesus said, “there is one that accuseth you, Moses” [John 5:45-47].

Do not be misled by a rabbi's mere mention of the word Torah. You must pin him down: "Which 'Torah'?" Then watch out for the pilpul, mental reservations, and Kol Nidre deceit that will inevitably follow.

“Jєωιѕн Mysticism- According to Rabbi Steinsaltz, Jєωιѕн mysticism – or Kabbalah – is the official theology of the Jєωιѕн people. Although the world of Kabbalah is profoundly symbolic and abstract, its teachings are of tremendous significance to the individual and to society alike. It also discusses the interaction between those entities and the performance of mitzvot in the physical world. It is for this reason that Kabbalah has been called the soul of the Torah.
The character of Kabbalah is perhaps manifested most clearly in Hasidut. By changing the terminology of Kabbalah yet maintaining its messages, Hasidut offers a simpler, more accessible way of unlocking its secrets. The Hasidic movement, which has prompted dramatic changes in the outlook of the Jєωιѕн people, began in the late 18th century with the teachings of Rabbi Yisrael Ba’al Shem Tov. By re-emphasizing the value of every Jєω, the Ba’al Shem Tov provided his disciples with the opportunity to link the individual closer to the Almighty. Hasidism has breathed new vitality into Jєωιѕн life, offering an alternate route to the arduous and, for some, unattainable path of study.”

What God judged as “voiding the commandments of God for the traditions of men” [Mark 7:6-9]:
There are verses in the Torah that were explained away by the rabbis of the тαℓмυd as either not applying any longer, never applying or they get made so complex to enact that they eventually fall away.

…The Torah condones the death penalty while the тαℓмυd pretty much outlaws it. [see Hoffman’s analysis] The Torah tells us to take our malcontent children to the gates of the city and if they can't be reformed by the elders, to stone them to death. The тαℓмυd tells us that never happened and never should happen. Sorry!

And, in the reverse, the Torah is pretty clear about what keeping kosher should look like, and it is pretty simple, while the rabbis of the тαℓмυd and later codes expanded the laws and made them quite complex. We have a long history of interpreting our Torah, redefining its meaning, and using very advanced and creative hermeneutical tools to either alter, or in some cases, downright change, what the original meaning seems to have been. We have the principle of PARDES, which is a rabbinic literary invention, whereby each word of the Torah has four levels of interpretation: the literal meaning, peshat, a more subtle or hinting reading, remez, a creative commentary, drash, and a totally hidden or mysterious meaning, sod. Through this technique, and many others, commentators, most famously Rashi, 11th century in France, have sometimes completely changed the text from what it literally says.
