Christopher, I was wondering why you started another thread on this when you had obviously seen the other. On closer investigation I see that the other thread is in the Anonymous threads where many posters are just too cowardly to post their rubbish under (even) their screen name. That section is becoming a real problem here I think.

If you wanted more people to get the message, you should have made your thread title "Fatima Center Not Closed" instead of something vague like this.

Ok.  So we have an anonymous Guest reporting that the people who will be in charge of Fr. Gruner's estate and are Novus Ordo Catholics will close down the Fatima Center and sell all of the assets because Fr. Gruner did not have a will.  This anonymous Guest says he knows people who are close to the family.  The board of directors may not want to close the Center, but Fr. Gurner's relatives, who are his heirs, would rather have the cash than the apostolate.  Given what we know of human nature, this report is completely reasonable.

Now we have anonymous Christopher67 reporting that the Fatima Center will not close and wants Matthew to censor those who say it will because they're just trouble-makers.  He doesn't even bother to give us purported facts, nor does he claim to have any specific knowledge of the situation.  He just makes the declaration and we are supposed to take his word over that of the other anonymous poster.

Hmmmm.  Who to trust?  Who to believe?  The guy whose explanation fits everything we know about fallen human nature or the guy who just makes a statement of fact with no explanation.

I guess I'll just have to wait to see what happens over the next few months.  Even if anonymous Guest is correct, I'm sure inheritance and estate laws in Canada are just as complex as the laws in the United States whether Fr. Gruner really had a will or not.

Why would they shut it down?  They have an ongoing multi-million-dollar revenue stream.

Perhaps because it is a non-profit organization and they really don't have access to the revenue stream unless they work for the organization--and even then, their access to the revenue would be regulated by laws governing such non-profits; but, they may have access to the assets of the organization after they are sold.  It's not as if the Fatima Center pays dividends on stock.

This is why I tend to believe the first story more than the second.

In fairness to others, there is at least one person who knows the family and may be privy to their intentions. And it was reported that he did not have a will.
Time will tell.

There are many forum members who support Fr. Gruner's work via the Fatima Center.  I don't think it fair to characterize their worry about it's future as "idiocy".   Actually, I think their worry is warranted. Your reaction might be personal, due to your close relationship with Father, which is understandable.

All that said, the person who posted anonymously may have inside info, but rumors stink. It would be better that they reveal the source or retract.

You are correct, my characterization is inappropriate. But, I believe in naming names.
