Because the ruling elite that controls all aspects of the
mass media, and the governments wanted it so.
Reminds me of the hip of the Y2K that caused mass
fears among even intelligent people of what was going
to happened  on new years eve 1999.
It proves that the media can cause mass hysteria,
and fears among governments, and people using
computer images that are faked.
It just like finding Noah's Ark in which I read one
report on the media that the whole thing is fake.
We must be careful in what we digest from daily
TV watching.

It affected the ability of certain leaders to attend the funerals of Poland's Elite...hmm
