  • Hello, Family!!

I was wondering how many of you read/have read the 'Catholic' newspaper that is published by the Transalpine Redemptorists out of Papa Stronsay, Scotland.

I first started reading it during my conversion process about 8 years ago, and loved the stories about the Saints, the thought- provoking articles, and the beautiful pictures.
But alas, it has changed! There ARE beautiful, full-colour pictures now, but it seems to just be about "Rome this, Rome that, this is what the Holy Father is doing, here are some pictures of Bishops" etc. Nothing wrong with this, of course.. it just seems different.

Has anyone else noticed this?? Does anyone like the new format?

Thank you (as always) for your help!

    Love,

    michaela +

  • I too loved their beautiful publication when they followed the SSPX before they signed with Rome; alas they have been silenced.
SSPX take note what happens when you sign with Rome!

  • I really didn't grow up with any religion.. my parents just sent me to church with a friend that lived down the street from us when I was around 11.
We were a military family, my step-father was an Army drill sergeant, and we moved every 2-3 years!
Long story short, after a lifetime of searching, skipping over a lot of beautiful graces that Our Jesus granted me... I was able to finally find Him in His Catholic Church. I might sound funny, but when I was really little I always felt that He was with me, and when my best friend found out that I wanted to convert, he took me to an SSPX chapel, and immediately, I felt "home!" It was as if My Jesus finally led me to where I could really find Him!!
I never felt comfortable where I went with my friends down the street.. They were always some flavor of Baptist.. didn't know about Catholics until I was 22! I always felt that those Protestant churches were empty.. little did I know that I was right! Our Jesus is not there!

Was about to go through with RCIA in a N. O. Parish, and when I mentioned it to my best friend, he asked, "what is that!?! Let me take you to MY church!"
As stated above, he took me to an SSPX chapel, and that was it!!! The Catholic Church is the one, true Faith, and NO one will EVER be able to take it from me!! I feel truly blessed and ever grateful to Our Father for loving and protecting me, and finally giving me my heart's desire. And not leaving out our beautiful Mommy Mary and best Guardian Angel in the world!! (who needs a promotion!!) :laugh1:

Sorry, this post is much longer than it should have been!! I just want the world to know that I love My Jesus and Our Family in Heaven, and I am most grateful every day!! We must pray for others who are still lost... There are so many!!

God bless you, and thank you for listening!!

    Love,
    michaela +

PS sorry if this post sounds funny.. I have a bad cold!! <3

  • I liked CATHOLIC when it was owned and run by Don McClean in Australia. He once published an article by Michael Davies which defended the New Mass. At that time this did not go down too well with some SSPX Districts where a lot of his readers were located (How times have changed now!). The Redemptorists took it from his hands, rather than have him close it down due to loss in readership.

  • The Transalpine Redemptorists did a wonderful work producing "Catholic" - lots of wonderful reading. My Mum got it before me then I subscribed.

They also published, in their latter days, cheaply produced reprints of an old books for enclosure with their newspaper. These were spiritual treasures.

Sadly they lost their way and ended up in Rome and under the NO system. A real tragedy. We are the poorer for it.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.
