I am curious. I am very tempted to watch. My confession is that I did not know about the Borgia family until I started reading on this forum.

Is it Hollywood trying to disparage the Catholic Church as usual or do you think it will worthwhile?

I doubt it would be something morally acceptable for Catholics to watch.

That is what I thought. I usually like to watch historical movies but recently they are behavorially anachronistic in the sense that they depict the characters behaving in the way that people behave today.
Back in the day I believe there was much more decorum and much was left unsaid. I don't believe people showed all their defects by acting so hysterically all the time as H'wood would like us to believe and 'let it all hang out'.

How exactly does it blaspheme the Church?  Sure it takes artistic license but the general theme of Rodrigo and Cesare Borgia being murderous fornicators isn't that far from the truth.  Are you denying this fact?

The series does feature some "good" characters.  Cardinal Giuliano della Rovere (Colm Feore's character) is portrayed as an ambitious but honest guy who won't sink to the level of the Borgias in order to defeat them.  

Sure, there's probably some sɛҳuąƖ content that we would find morally offensive, but sadly I don't think it's much worse in that sense than the average trash that Hollywood produces.  I DVR'ed the show (I had to go to bed early last night) and just fast forwarded through the few brief sex scenes.

Overall, it's an interesting show.  I know it's easy to think, "oh, the media's out to get us because we're Catholic," (and that is true in many cases) but besides an occasional sex scene I don't understand what you find morally offensive about The Borgias.

This reminds me of when I was on CAF and a couple of posters there went nuts about The Departed being "anti-Catholic," when all they were referring to was the obvious villain in the film making a snide remark about fag priests.
