  • OK, I'll bite.

St. John the Evangelist and author of the Gospel bearing his name is the beloved disciple. He is the beloved disciple because of his childlike faith in Jesus, because he followed his Lord through thick and thin, even to the foot of the cross, because he rested his head on Jesus's Chest, because he ate His Body and drank His Blood in the Eucharist, because he testified to Jesus even through torture and imprisonment, because he accepted Mary as his mother...

And any one of us who does the same is also Jesus's beloved disciple, who must take up his cross, follow Jesus to His Crucifixion, and consecrate himself to Our Blessed Lady and Mother.
St. Jude, who, disregarding the threats of the impious, courageously preached the doctrine of Christ,
    pray for us.

  • is that really so how about Lazarus at Jn.11:1-46 and 12:1 - more even than Peter "Simon lovest thou me more than these other"[Jn.21:15-17] - btw young John taking Mary to his own home, under a pretence, with strict Jєωs would have been a scandal of the first magnitude - twinc

    Quote
[3] His sisters therefore sent to him, saying: Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

    And...

    Quote
[36] The Jєωs therefore said: Behold how he loved him.

So? Jesus isn't capable of loving more than one person at a time?

The part about John taking Mary into his home:

    1) Show some proof that this would be scandalous by contemporary Jєωιѕн standards and

    2) Many things Jesus and His Disciples did were scandalous by the standards of the Pharisees of their day.

    Again, so what?
