  • In his November 1, 1986 letter (#42), then rector of St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary, Father Richard Williamson highlighted a letter to the Pope from Abp. Marcel Lefebvre.  It was mailed to the Holy Father shortly after the 1986 “ecuмenical” debacle in Assisi. (See Letters From The Rector, True Restoration Press, 2008, p.167) Accompanying that letter were two pictures, reproduced below.  The letter read as follows:

    Holy Father,
Be so good as to meditate on these two pictures, since you are deaf to the anguished appeals which we have filially addressed to you. Deign at least not to offend gravely and in public against God's First Commandment: the salvation of your soul is at stake! Preach Jesus Christ, as did the Apostles, even at the cost of their lives. That is the fervent and filial wish of those who still remain Catholic.
Marcel Lefebvre Bishop Emeritus of Tulle

The successor of JP2 has done equally outrageous things.  But I can not imagine the Episcopal successors of the Archbishop sending this pope letters of protest against them, much less accompanying them with pictures such as are provided above.  Imagine what the Archbishop would have said and done in the wake of this present pontiff's multiple shenanigans. :jumping2:
