  • We seem to be getting more members, less responses, less traffic, and a whole lot less lively.  We still have new articles which ought to elicit some response, never mind a good old fashioned talk fest, but it's not happening.  Even questions go unanswered.  Has Cathinfo turned into a newspaper?

  • I would reply more often if I didn't get my name dragged in the mud every time I do.

Perhaps when I'm feeling a little better about myself, and more confident in my faith, I'll be up to responding more frequently.  Give it a little time.

  • Well, some of us understand, and some of us are aware that our sins have been worse than yours.  As for those who don't, someone needs to remind them that humility is a prerequisite to getting into heaven.  That's why all the saints considered themselves the worst of sinners, and I heard once that St. Peter was allowed to fail so badly so he would never be tempted to lord it over anyone.  Also remember the prayers of the two sinners and the one who came away justified.  The most anyone can honestly say is, "There but for the grace of God, go I."

As for the rest, they need to get their tongues back from that cat before this forum is no longer a forum at all.

  • Time is my only limitation. (And sometimes an available hand to type with--typing takes two, but reading only takes one  :smirk:) I'd love to post more often but generally only find the time to read a few of the things going on around here.

I do appreciate those who keep tossing on the logs when the flame seems to be diminishing.

  • I personally understand why some aren't incline to respond to me, as I somehow have an axe to grind with much of the stuff written here that have little to do with Catholicism.  I can't complain for I admit that I carry a stick behind my back quite often.  However, unless I feel personally attacked - which as gotten rare  - I only clobber arguments, and have little interest in embarrassing people or putting them on the spot.

That being said, I do regret the lack of fighting spirit some display in defending their argument.

  • I understand your one handedness, Mater.  Sometimes even one hand is hard to find.  I'm afraid the forum is being particularly hard to jump start these days. and I'm only a remnant of what I used to be.  I'm back up to 98 lbs, though, and that is better than 88.

Vandeler, no problem with you keeping us honest.  A good tussle doesn't hurt either if people don't play mind games or hit below the belt.  What I would really like to see is an article that grows with additions---like nail soup.

  • It seems every second thread is "THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!!!" or something similar. Even if it is the case, most people don't like to hear it, so they simply ignore it.

I'm against that, Miss Fluffy, even though I am for helping comraderie as you said.  I agree there is a lot of negative stuff here, but the world being what it is, a word of warning is in order.  However, under each thread there is a reply button, which could be used to remind ourselves and each other what Jesus and the saints have said about such things.  This IS the age of martyrs, in one form or another, and we are called to support one another---not in pleasure, but in truth.  Not to deny what is going on, or ignore it lest we trip over it and get hurt in our ignorance, but to have God's remedy for it.

Nail soup, Vandeler, is an old, old story.  There was a man who went from town to town carrying a large cauldron.  He would go to the town square and fill the cauldron with water, then build a fire under it.  People would be curious and they would gather around to see what he was up to.  When he had the fire going good, he would reach into his pocket and take out a large, shiny nail, polish it up and put it in the cauldron.  Soon someone would remember that they had a batch of potatoes at home that would go well in the soup.  Another would run home for some carrots and another for some onions they had on hand.  When the soup was done, everyone ate.  When the cauldron was empty the man would take out the nail, polish it up and put it in his pocket.  Then he would take his cauldron to the next village.

I have posted at least two articles which should have elicited such a response:  Lewis' Answer to Subject Truth and Dubai, UAE

Mhm, I suppose. After all, I guess we don't want to end up like a certain other forum (ahem). Still, it would be nice to know each other a little better, although that's rather hard to do on an internet forum. Oh well, there's always MSN for that.

  • I remember a time, the first months of Cathinfo, when we were like a large family.  Then there was an upheaval on another forum and we got an influx of members from there and things haven't been the same since.  I tend to try to answer other people, because I believe it is only polite.  Some times I would cut back thinking I was hogging it all, but then no one else stepped in.  Then I got sick and now I'm hit and miss.

I'm not sure what the other members think their role on this forum is, but I do know that you don't get to know people without conversing with them and that a forum isn't a forum without posters.  So even though Chant has done us all a favor by creating this forum, it is up to us to keep it alive.
