  • With exactly 1 hour until sunset, it is currently 99.3 (feels like 106).

Today was up to 102, with a heat index of 111.

Counting down the days till September...

  • Just remember when it's hot like that, that there is one place that is hotter.

  • Sounds like a cold snap in TX to me!  It was 114 in my backyard today.  Have no idea what the misery index was but it is humid as monsoons are here (AZ).

    It's almost 11 pm and it's 99 outside :(

Are there many ADOBE buildings in Texas?

    (Remember the Alamo?)

All of the adobe buildings I have experienced here in California are very well suited for keeping cool in daytime heat.  Adobe makes for excellent insulation.

The key is that the temperature needs to go down at night to a reasonable low, such as perhaps 70 F.  If the building is allowed to cool off at night, then it is easier to keep that cool all day long as the interior temperature rises much more slowly than the exterior does.

  • Sounds like you could grow a lot of citrus and tropical crops down there if you tried.

Me, while I'd like to grow lemon and almond trees, I like to keep cool more.
    Sincerely,

Even in Texas, if you dig down 20 feet underground, you'll have cool for free.
