I am just trying to see if I can get an embedded youtube video to work.

This is how I got it to work.

When you are making your post be sure to type this: [youtube][/youtube]

Next go to a youtube video. Right click on the youtube video and then click "copy embed code."

Next, go back to the cathinfo post and right click between [youtube] and [/youtube] and click paste.

you should see that you pasted something like this: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vBx-Aur7tbw?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

delete everything except for this which is between quotes in what you pasted:
http://www.youtube.com/embed/vBx-Aur7tbw?feature=player_detailpage

If you do this, then when you click preview you should see the video. If it is there click post or reply, or if it is not there you can try again.

Just tried what you suggested, but only the URL appeared.
Anyway the video could still be viewed when clicked on the 'URL'.

I think I must have missed something out?

Do you mind if I try to explain, I always get so upset when I read instructions because many times the author assumes the person reading understands simple things they omit to say. I try to take steps one at a time.

First you would copy the youtube URL and paste it into reply area like this:

Next you add the tags at the beginning [youtube] and end [/youtube]
No spaces: Like this:

[youtube][/youtube] Be careful not to miss a single character.

Next look at the original URL typed and delete the words watch?v= and in its place add the word embed/ Be careful not to miss the character / after the word embed, be careful you deleted the entire group watch?v=
Your results are below.

[youtube]http://www.youtube.com/embed/XcQ5SBdFKJs[/youtube]

You forgot to add the tag at the beginning and end of the url, very important. I checked the "view source" on the page you inserted your try and did not see any tags.

[youtube] at the beginning

[/youtube] at the end of the url. Don't forget the / at the end tag [/youtube]

Tags must be at the beginning [youtube] and end [/youtube]
No spaces in the entire code.

Try again, don't give up because once you do it, it is not difficult.

When I was trying to figure this out, it took me awhile, then once I got it, I wondered why it took so long.

Thank you, I try, because I get upset when I read instructions and half are missing because the author assumes too much. Happens to me all the time, and I am the type when I want to figure something out, I won't quit till I do.
