  • It showed a guy who on losing his mother lost all consolation and company, his sister was married and his father was just indifferent, absorbed in sorrows. So this guy secretly marries a twice divorced lady 15 years older than him and then they secretly take a divorce. (the guy is born rich, has serious heart conditions, is over-protected and limited).
5 years later he falls in love with a girl and decided not to inform her of what was hidden for years. Not knowing that that the former wife were pregnant at the time of divorce!!!
Then the ex-wife with her child appear, the new bride and the man's father see her and everybody condemns the young man for ''adding a miserable child to this world and not caring at all". Everybody hates him. even his new wife. and the ex-lady wants money. the man's bad conditions doesn't allow him to go out or decide for himself. The ex-lady and her child are loved, the new bride is loved, but no one loves him. He just has heart-aches again and again.
OK, I was watching this and kinda felt empathy for the man and wished he would kill the child, then I imagined myself being there instead of the man, taking the child by hair and dashing her head against the wall and her blood flowing and I confess such fantasies gave me pleasure.
Now I think I am a demonic person for feeling like that, but whenever a nervous attack happens (if it is the correct term) I wish death for myself and others and it calms me.
Why is hatred enjoyable? why is anger more attractive than lust.....

I don't know dear.  Best not to dwell on it and do not watch evil movies.

  •  Are you in college, are you still studying, do you have a job?  You need to do something with your time that will exhaust you and keep you from revolving the same thoughts over and over.

You sometimes post about terrible thoughts you have, those are just suggestions the devil puts in your brain, they last a split-second.  As long as you don't consent to them, they aren't sinful.  But you build them up into a big thing because of scruples.

Don't even watch movies like that.  As soon as you feel your nervousness or melancholy rising up, go do something else.  If you have a lustful thought, you chase it away, right?  Do the same for a melancholy thought.  Don't even come here and write about it.  Just treat those inspirations of the devil for what they are.  Repress them, ask Mary to fight them off, ignore them the way you'd ignore an annoying fly buzzing around your head.

The melancholic personality that becomes choleric is probably not unusual.  I was probably like that myself, though I can't tell which came first, it's a "the chicken or the egg" question.  I think anger is often melancholy turned out against the world.  After a while you get so sick of beating up on yourself, you think "I'm going to take it out on everyone else for a while, they're the ones who made me so miserable anyway."
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  •   The problem with a melancholy life is the fact that you are not just different, you are the opposite. The opposite of everybody and everything, the exception to all the the rules even rules like 1+1=2.
You don't want/need power, luxury, education, fame, logic, social life, dance, music etc. that billions of people in this world want. You want assurance acceptance a kind look or a hug, things that makes others scoff at you and think you are crazy.
A melancholic doesn't match the youth stereotype. his/her desire for emotional fulfillment makes him/her look childish, while the love of solitude and serious reflections makes him like the elderly.
You can't imagine how many times I approached my father as a child and told him:" don't go out to work, stay at home and hug me." each time he rebuked me He was a choleric obsessed with logic and perfection. :barf: :barf:
I believed that we could very happily live with less money but more love and never changed my mind. See how melancholics are different!

The only thing that makes sense to me in this post is that getting evil, chases away fear for a moment, because it makes you feel powerful, like heavy metal music does, but that moment is fleeting and ultimately it isn't satisfying.  In the end, you just wind up disturbed.

. See how melancholics are different!

Is this stuff about melancholics, cholerics etc. a hundred percent? I think that Angelus Press has republished something about this, originally published by a priest many years ago. What about free-will?

For specifics, watch light hearted films and avoid horror films. For "time-pass" only, as they say here in India.

    God bless!

Good advice. Plus, I find it strange that someone would post something like this thread start, it makes me think that this person is a recluse with no friends to talk to. Thinking one has some internet "freinds" to whom they can confide, reminds me of people who love animals, and dislike people.

It's easy to love animals. It's hard to love people.

    Dear Spouse of Jesusu,

Flush Hollywood (all fantasy), and the internet, and "the three personality types" articles down the toilet, and go see the real world, it's all around you, just step outside and see. Althought the USA is not reality, maybe you should visit Mexico (with a bodyguard).

If you are from the West you need to be tough to withstand culture shock. And you need a strong stomach too. I dont think that Temperament thing will help! Wikipedia has something on it. It seems it was around in Greece and Egypt long before the Christianity came into being.

What was that about not giving advice to people you don't know?

You know that she lives among Muslims and she is here to talk to fellow Catholics?

In some sense she's probably lucky, the real Catholics here are far more trustworthy than the ones you find in typical trad chapels.

(though not all, by any means)

Tele, I wouldn't the real Catholics here by and large be the ones that are found in typical trad chapels?

As for Nadie and his bit about flushing articles on the personality types -

To be honest I think the trad Catholics here are rather different.  We still get certain types coming here though.

But what I mean is, don't you think that we traditional Catholics typically are ones who attend trad chapels if able to?

Yes, we do get a few "certain types" coming here. LOL
